Sam Proof Talks CuteAvalanche on The Afluencer Podcast | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

CuteAvalanche founder Sam Proof sat down with Brett Owens, founder of Afluencer, for the Afluencer Podcast to talk about livestreaming, content creation, and building a brand with purpose. From turning a one-phone Facebook stream into a multi-platform rescue project to dreaming of a future Cat Café, Sam covered it all. 🎧 Listen to the full episode on YouTube or Spotify! Our first kittens ... I literally streamed to Facebook for as long as it would go, which was like eight hours. Sam Proof https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZu4EYzsyWs How CuteAvalanche Started Seven years ago we got our first kittens and I like literally my livestream setup was—we had a pen that the kittens were in and I put a phone on top of it and streamed to Facebook for as long as it would go. Sam's background as a content creator started in the early internet days—way before YouTube existed. A chance Craigslist ad led him into the world of livestreaming, and years later, his wife Amanda wanted to start fostering kittens. Sam had one condition: “Only if I can livestream them.” That was the start of CuteAvalanche. What began as a way to stay creative turned into a full-blown cat rescue effort and livestreaming brand—starting with a phone, a pen, and a few kittens. Growing on Shaky Platforms We grew really, really fast... and then Mixer closed. After early success on Facebook, CuteAvalanche exploded on Mixer, especially after a pregnant mama cat gave birth live on stream and landed them on Mixer's front page. But when Mixer suddenly shut down, the team had to pivot. That experience led Sam to embrace multi-streaming as a core strategy. These days, CuteAvalanche streams to 10+ platforms at once, with Twitch and YouTube being the main hubs. 📺 Watch the 24/7 Cat Cam on Twitch at https://www.twitch.tv/cuteavalanche subscribe on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/cuteavalanche?sub_confirmation=1 Community Is Everything Our marketing strategies are community growth—it’s all word of mouth. The success of CuteAvalanche isn’t just about kittens—though those help! It’s about people. Twitch raids, fan art, social shares, and word of mouth have all helped the community grow. Sam highlighted how larger streamers raiding CuteAvalanche exposed them to thousands of new viewers. Sam also shared how implementing mid-roll ads on Twitch significantly reduced drop-off after raids. Instead of hitting people with a pre-roll ad the second they arrived, viewers got to enjoy the stream first—and stayed longer as a result. Collabs, Cats, and Creative Projects Most of our emotes and merch have been drawn live on stream. Sam talked about working with guest artists like Insomnia Doodle, who creates emotes and merch designs during live art streams. These kinds of collaborations not only keep things fresh, but strengthen bonds with the community. CuteAvalanche also launched their own podcast, Just Kitten Around, as a low-barrier way to collaborate with other cat people—inviting guests to chat about their cat-related work and passions. 🧶 Want to collab or be on our podcast? Reach out at cuteavalanche@gmail.com or use the contact form at https://cuteavalanche.com Helping Other Rescues We launched our Foster Friends collab so we could help other people get their cats adopted. From Giving Tuesday gift bags to Best Friends Animal Society fundraisers and a VidCon pop-up Cat Café, CuteAvalanche continues to support other rescuers. During the Super Mewl livestream event, Sam included a halftime segment highlighting adoptable cats from other fosters—something they hope to continue monthly. 🐾 Are you a rescue or foster who wants to feature your adoptable cats? Learn more and submit at https://cuteavalanche.com/fosterfriends What’s Next for CuteAvalanche We’re limited by space, and that’s why we want to open a Cat Café. Right now, the fosters live in CuteAvalanche’s master bedroom. Space and funding are the biggest limitations—and opening a Cat Café would be a game-changer. It would mean more cats rescued, more community interaction, and more opportunities to educate and entertain. 😻 Help make it happen! Donate to our fundraiser at https://cuteavalanche.com/give2025 The next big livestream milestone is Meowlloween, our fan-favorite interactive game returning in October. Mark your calendars, because it’s a frightfully fun way to support rescue work! Listen In & Get Involved Whether you're a cat lover, a livestreaming nerd, or someone thinking about starting your own rescue, this episode of the Afluencer Podcast gives a real behind-the-scenes look at how CuteAvalanche grew into what it is today. 🖤 Got thoughts? Fireworks & Cats: Keeping Your Pets Calm During July 4th | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

Safety tips for anxious cats. Every year, the 4th of July brings bright lights, booming fireworks, and celebrations across the country. But for our cats, it's often a time of stress, anxiety, and even danger. At CuteAvalanche, we know how important it is to protect our feline family members during the festivities. Here are our top tips to prepare your cat for a safe and stress-free Independence Day: Prep Before the Fireworks Start Update ID Tags & Microchips Even the most indoor-only cats can become startled and flee unexpectedly when fireworks erupt, creating a risk of getting lost. Ensuring your cat's ID tags display your current contact information and verifying that their microchip registration is updated with your correct details are crucial preventative measures. In the event your frightened feline escapes, these identification tools significantly increase the chances of a safe reunion. Microchipping is a simple, permanent form of identification that every pet parent should prioritize, especially during high-risk times like the 4th of July. Secure Your Home Loud fireworks explosions can cause sudden panic, prompting cats to seek any means of escape. Inspect your home thoroughly before festivities begin. Close all windows, doors, pet doors, and block access to any outdoor enclosures like catios or balconies. Check for loose screens or small openings that might offer an exit route for a terrified cat. By securing these potential escape routes, you create a safe indoor environment where your cat is less likely to bolt due to fear or disorientation. Talk to Your Vet If your cat displays signs of severe anxiety during loud noises, now is the time to speak with your veterinarian about possible calming solutions. Veterinary-approved options such as pheromone diffusers (like Feliway), anxiety-reducing supplements, or prescription medications can provide effective relief for noise-sensitive cats. Every cat responds differently, so your vet can help you determine the safest and most effective approach tailored to your cat's specific anxiety level and medical history. Early preparation allows plenty of time to test these calming aids before the fireworks begin. During Fireworks Create a Safe Room Designating a quiet, secure space away from the noise can offer your cat a much-needed sense of refuge. Choose a room with few windows or exterior walls, such as a bathroom or interior bedroom, and fill it with familiar bedding, favorite toys, and comforting scents to create a safe haven. Adding a litter box, water, and a few treats ensures your cat has everything they need to stay comfortable while fireworks are ongoing. Offer Distractions Distraction can be a powerful tool to help reduce anxiety. Engage your cat with interactive toys, puzzle feeders, or a gentle play session before the fireworks start. This stimulation can help burn off excess energy and shift your cat's focus away from the booming sounds outside. Treats or a special snack can also create positive associations during this otherwise stressful time. Play Soothing Sounds Sound masking techniques can help minimize the impact of sudden loud noises. Play relaxing cat music, white noise, or low-volume TV shows in the safe room to drown out or soften the sharp pops and booms of fireworks. These continuous background sounds create a calming atmosphere, helping your cat remain more relaxed despite the commotion happening outside. For Extra Sensitive Cats Some cats suffer from severe noise phobias that require more specialized intervention. If your cat experiences extreme distress despite your best efforts, consult your veterinarian about a referral to a veterinary behaviorist. These professionals can develop a customized behavior modification plan and recommend advanced treatment options to manage your cat's fireworks-related anxiety long-term. Early intervention can greatly improve your cat's quality of life during future holidays and noisy events. We Persevered and Reached New Heights on Our YouTube! WELCOME the New Kittens, NAMES, Call for Volunteers and more! – CuteAvalanche Recap June 23 2025 | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

We’ve got new kittens in the house! Kitten Season is running full steam, and we’re so excited to have new little ones on the livestream. As always, we’re grateful for the opportunity to help these tiny floofs get the best possible start in life. Amanda picked them up earlier today as I started this post, and they’re settling into foster life beautifully. Screenshot We've got Names! Its actually beena. few days since I started this post and we got the kittens, and I can now share with you that the kittens are doing well after a weird first few days. When the floofy duo came to us, we got some weird updates and mixed signals. Originally we were told they were 2 to 3 weeks old, and the reality was they were much closer to 4 weeks old, however they were also very dehydrated. On top of the the fosters that were handing them off told us that the kittens were already using the litter box, and as a sidenote the shelter had some food for us. What we didn't realize was that food was two cans of wet food, which was odd indeed. The first two days the kittens barely ate and I have to admit I thought they weren't long for this world. Amanda made the descision to try and bottle feed them, in spite of the knowledge that they apparently were already eating wet food. After a few goes of it, they did in fact start to bottle feed. The girl more so than her brother, he does seem to be eating wet food but is taking the bottle a little as well. So, now that things seem to be going well I proudly introduce Sherlock and Enola. Inspire of course by the famous Detectives. Now we just have to settle on a litter tag - I'm taking suggestions, so far I have #MysteryKittens or #221BKittens for holmes Baker street address Add your Litter Tag suggestions in the comments below! MISSED SATURDAYS CAT CHAT? WATCH SAM'S KITTEN RECAP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_x0H5Q_CGc Wishlist Updates With the new arrivals here, we’re shifting our focus to prepping for the weeks ahead. Right now we’re in good shape on KMR (kitten milk replacer), but since the're already moving onfrom the bottle wet food is going to become the big need as they start to wean. We'd love to stock up on 3 or 4 cases to make sure we’re fully covered. As a reminder, Amanda and the girls will be heading to Michigan mid-July. Depending on how things go, either I’ll continue to foster during their trip or we may hand off the kittens to another available foster. We’ll keep everyone posted! Why Do Cats Purr on You? | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

You’re sitting in the living room, and your furry cat jumps on your lap, lies down, and suddenly begins to make a rumbling sound. That's purring! But why do cats purr on you? If you're wondering what it implies when your cat purrs? Or, Why does my cat purr so much? Then you are in the place. What Is a Cat’s Purr? A cat’s purr is like a special song of the pet cat, a warm little engine in their throat. They produce this through their voice box by vibrating, and it can be very hard to understand. While generally, it means they are happy, they can also purr in a different way. Let's know about it! Top 4 Fascinating Reasons Why Cats Purr Cats use purring as a communication method for a variety of situations, much like the way humans talk. These are some of the common reasons cats purr: 1. They’re Happy and Comfy Typically, when a cat purrs, it indicates that they are overjoyed and glad to be with their owner. Thus, it’s like they’re saying, “I love to be around you!” If your cat is in your lap and purring, most likely they’re probably feeling safe and cozy. 2. They Want Something Sometimes cats purr when they are hungry or need attention. It's their way of representing, I'm hungry, give me food! or I want to be caressed by you more! Kittens frequently purr when they want to assure their mother that they are safe or need her. 3. They’re Calming Themselves It could be news to you that cats also purr when they are frightened or injured. It is a fact! Purring can make them feel better, like when a person hums a song to take their mind off something. Scientists think that the purring sound could also facilitate their recovery, as its vibrations are extraordinary (25-150 Hz, a low rumbling sound). 4. They’re Talking to Each Other When felines purr, they send their mother the message - “Mom, I’m near you and I’m fine mom.” Even adult cats can purr to express affection towards other cats in a social manner. When Do Kittens Start Purring? You may be curious, “What is the age when kittens start purring?” It is a fact that young kittens can start purring when they are a few days old. It is not strange that 3 to 5 days old kittens can start purring! It's how they talk to their mother and siblings when they are so little. Thus, if feline kittens purr next to you, they definitely say, “You are my new family.” Why Does My 4-Month-Old Cat Purr So Much? Are you worried because your 4-month-old cat purrs frequently? It is normal for young kittens to be purring too much, especially if they are in the process of getting to know the things around them and forming a close relationship with you.By doing so, they express their feelings of “I am happy to be here!” or “I feel safe with you!” They may also purr when they are hungry or feeling playful. There is also a possibility that the kitten will be purring continuously and showing some abnormal (not eating, hiding) behavior. If this is the case, I advise you to check with the vet immediately to get professional help. My Cat Is Always Purring You may claim, “My cat will never stop purring!” It could be that your cat is in a good mood and wants your attention. If the cat purrs even when it is tired, unwell, or has negative emotions, it is a very worrying sign.  When they are sick or are under stress, the cats sometimes purr for self-comfort. You should probably call a veterinarian to be sure. VetPro360 is an excellent resource for veterinarians jobs where they can treat animals like your cat. This is a platform that lets pet doctors join in with clinics in the care of pets for a healthier and happier life! How to Understand Your Cat’s Purr The same purring does not imply the same thing! Here are some tips to be sure you are interpreting your cat’s purr the right way. Soft, steady purr: Your cat is probably happy and relaxed. Loud, fast purr: They might be really excited, hungry, or asking for attention. Purring with tense body or flicking tail: They could be stressed or not feeling well. Try watching your cat’s ears, tail, and eyes. If they’re relaxed and purring, they’re probably just enjoying your company. But if they look nervous, it might be time to check in with a vet. Ask a Vet for Help Your cat can sometimes start to purr as a clue that it needs more care from you. The employees of vet hospitals are like detectives in that they can tell you the problem. So, if you are wondering why your cat is purring all the time or how her health is, a vet can provide you with an informative and expert response VetPro360 is powered by VetandTech, the veterinary professionals not only get a good job but also help more animals. This is the website that links veterinarians with the best clinics in the country, so your pets receive the finest treatment.  Fun Facts About Purring Not only do cats purr! Some big cats, such as cheetahs purr too, but lions and tigers don't. The sound of a purr is so calming that some people say it can make you feel relaxed! Scientists think purring might help cats' bones and muscles stay strong because of those special vibrations. Enjoy Your Cat Purr! Is a cat purring an indication of love for you? Most of the time, a cat is purring on a human because it likes the person or feels secure, or wants to convey a message. The kitten that is only 4 months old is purring vigorously, while the mature cats are purring to tell you that they love you. Check their body signals to know what they want, and a vet can always clear your doubts if you get anxious. Are you interested in others’ experiences with how they took care of their cat’s health? You can never go wrong trusting professionals in the field and stay tuned to gain insight into the work done by veterinary professionals and their cats. Continue to hold your little purring friend and treasure those gifts of pleasant noise!

A New Chapter: Farewell Harper, Hello New Foster Kittens | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

Foster Harper updates Harper has been adopted!! We got word Saturday June 7th Harper (named Curly by the second Foster) had been adopted. We did not get any additional info about who adopted her, if there are other fosters with her, or if that new owner/family has any pets already, etc. As this was through Kitten Rescue their policies would require them to have or adopt a second kitten, so Harper should have a friend we just don't have the details. We wish her the best and of course if we hear anything mew, we'll pass it along https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSW_lGIbla0&t=12s The Big Mews We're getting new kittens!! At the time of writing this, we expect to have new kitties showing up this evening (or late afternoon) somewhere around 5pm. They come from a litter of 4, we'll only take in 2 of the 4 and don't know which two will be heading our way. Amanda will be picking up the duo this evening from the East Valley shelter, where a shelter foster currently had them over night waiting for Kitten Rescue to responsd to their call for a foster. So get ready for the stream to kick in to LIVE mode this evening! - Join us for first looks! Wishlist Items That being said, we're pretty solid on KMR (kitten milk replacer) for now and our bigger need is Wet Food for when the kittens ween. We'd love to stock pile 3 or 4 cases as we're not sure how long the kittens will be with us. Amanda and the girls will be heading to Michigan mid July and its likely I'll be taking care of the kittens, but they would also be old enough to ween and move on to another foster right around the time of the trip. So we'll have to see if a new foster is available at that time. Our #1 askWellness Complete Health Pate Kitten Wet Cat Food, Natural, Protein-Rich, Grain Free, 3 Ounce, 24 Pack, (Chicken) Check out our wishlist: https://cuteavalanche.com/wishlist Clip of the Day https://www.youtube.com/shorts/L64YPNlTG28 Call for Volunteers If you can be cat Foster, this is the time of year to start. Shelters are over crowded and Kitten Season is in full swing. But since not eveyone can take on another cat in their home we have a need for some volunteers that can be done remotely! Video Editor - I'm looking for one or two video editors to help work on some very simple videos. Primarily vertical. These videos generally just need a trim, captions added, a music track and can be cut in any editing software. it's about 4 to 7 videos weekly and they might take 10 minutes each. Blog Writer! - I'd love to expand our blog to doing more than just the occasional update and can really use someone who can do research or has a decent amount of cat knowledge to help suggest and write one or two blog posts a month Fill out the form at the bottom of this page If you've got a skill and can help out on a weekly basis let me know or check out https://cuteavalanche.com/volunteer/ Well that's not Noice As a side note I logged into noice.com this morning to post about our new fosters to find a message from the CEO saying they we're shutting down. We've seen several platforms come and go in our 8 years of streaming and its always a sad day to say good bye to one. Noice was an ok platform, it was more gamer focussed so we didn't get a real foothold there. But should our 26 noice followers be out there, we hope you'll say hello and follow us on Twitch, YouTube or any of the other platforms. Noice did have a cool built in AI driven clipping tool that created tons of clips we never used LOL. I scrubbed through some of them but never found anything that seemed all that good. but again we're not gamers so it just took stabs in the dark. Fundraiser Updates Our Tiltify has bascily come to a crawl, and that's probably on me for not promoting it more. for now it stands at $480 out of $500 (our first tier goal). Now that we have new kittens arriving, I'll give it a little more love and focus, but for starters our Wishlist items of wet food is the higher priority. New Fun While we're loosing a feature we never really got to use, we gained something I think is super cool! Our YouTube Community page has gotten access to YouTube's new user submitted community posting feature! This is only availabe for Mobile users through the YouTube app Users can now go to our Channel in the YouTube app and you'll see a 'Visit Community' button Click that and you're taken to a social media style feed where you post text and a picture! We welcome you all to post pictures of your furpals, funny cat/dog/animal memes, and if you're a rescue or shelter, we'd love to see your adoptable animal listings. We'll do what we can to boost them as well. I'm setting up some challenges, so look for those prompts and post away! I believe you can post up to 5 pictures per post, and for now there's no limitation on how much you can post (to my knowledge). Desktop users sadly won't be able to see this feed currently, so make sure you have the youtube app if you want to join the fun and see what other people are posting! Our first YouTube Community post Challenge - Post your Furpal! It doesn't get much simplier than that, head over to the Community Tab and post some pics of your Furpal! fill up our feed with floof!

A Bittersweet Goodbye and Bright New Beginnings | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

Frida and Diego Have Moved On It always happens so fast. One minute you're bottle-feeding these tiny creatures around the clock, the next they're weaned and ready for their next chapter. Last night, between 8:30 and 9pm PST, our dynamic duo Frida and Diego left for their new foster home. For those who might not know why we focus on bottle babies - it's simple. In Los Angeles, kittens under 8 weeks old are the most vulnerable. Shelters simply don't have the resources to care for them, which means they often end up on what we call the EOD list - End of Day. That's rescue speak for euthanasia. When we first started fostering eight years ago, we saw this need and knew we had to help. https://youtube.com/shorts/q4d_Djz5Tpk After our house fire last year forced us into an apartment, bottle babies became the perfect fit. They don't need much space - just warmth, food, and love. But once they wean? That's when our limited square footage really shows. Frida and Diego had been ready for their next stage for a couple weeks now, and while we'll miss their antics, we know this is what's best for them. I wish I could tell you we'll get regular updates, but the truth is, in rescue, you rarely do. These little ones will stay with their new foster until adoption, and we have to trust they'll be loved just as much as they were here. Before they left, I managed to capture one of their last bottle feedings - back when they still needed us for every meal. And thanks to 9gcatnip, we have this adorable clip of them snuggled up together, completely tuckered out after a long day of kitten mischief. What's Next for Our Streams? With our furry friends gone, we'll be running a special playlist featuring highlights from over 200 fosters we've cared for during the past eight years. It's going to be a walk down memory lane - from our very first bottle baby to some of your all-time favorites. Our family has some visitors coming into town and we'll be taking a short weekend trip, so we won't be taking in new fosters for about two weeks. The playlist should keep things running smoothly while we're away (assuming Twitch behaves itself!). Some Incredible Milestones I have to take a moment to share some amazing news - our YouTube channel just passed 650,000 views! When we started this journey, we never imagined so many people would care about our fosters and our mission. Every view, every share, every comment has helped save lives. Let's see if we can hit 700K by the end of the Summer - who's with me? Also even though we only made two episodes of our podcast Just Kitten Around - it keeps showing up! This week we were informed we're the #2 in the Top 100 Indie Pets & Animals Monthly chart on GoodPods. I would absolutely love to produce more episodes of Just Kitten Around, and interview some of the other ameozing people and purrsonalities in the cat world, but the hoent truth is that until our family has more finacial stability it's a project that's on the back burner for now. If you want to help us change that, consider joining our Patreon for a small monthly donation Birthdays and Bookstores This week was extra special because we celebrated two birthdays in our household. Our amazing Betty turned 12 (how is that even possible?) and as an avid reader, there was only one place she wanted to go - The Last Bookstore in downtown LA. If you've never been, it's this magical place where books are art and stories come alive. Seeing her excitement reminded me why we do all this - to create a better world for the next generation of animal lovers. Oh, and I turned 52. Let's just say kittens don't care about birthdays and leave it at that! A Rescue Community Reunion One of the highlights of my month was attending the Meow Factor event at Annenberg PetSpace. Amber (you might know her as @EatDrinkCat) hosted an incredible panel featuring two legends in the cat world - Nathan the Cat Lady and Sterling Trap King Davis. Nathan's been a friend in the rescue community for years, but this was the first time I got to meet Sterling in person after eight years of mutual respect from afar. If you're not familiar with his work, Sterling revolutionized TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) efforts, especially in underserved communities. The energy in that room was clawsome - so many passionate people coming together to talk about cats. They also talked for a while about some other animals, a chicken, Opossum and Galgos. If you haven't heard of the Galgos, or the horror they're put through - I'll spare you the details, but leave you with this video from Nathan and Sterlings trans atlantic trip to save 32 of this adorable dogs https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJWdbFyMCE2/?hl=en You can also see the entire panel in which they talk about the Galgos, Opposum, TNR and more - Amber captured the event purrfectly in an Instagram live Paws Without Borders. Looking Ahead As we take this short break between fosters, I want to thank you all for being part of our community. Whether you've been with us since the beginning or just discovered our stream last week, your support means everything. Keep an eye on our streams for those foster throwbacks, and if you want to chat more between blogs, join us on Discord. Here's to the next chapter, the next foster, and the next life we get to save together. I will continue doing Caturday Chats on your favorite streaming platform every Saturday at 10am PST. I've yet to decide the fate of the Purrsday streams (exclusive to YouTube). I will likely pawse them, but may still do one this week for people who didn't get the meowmo. WELCOME Our Newest Bottle Baby Kittens: Frida and Diego | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

We’re thrilled to officially introduce our two newest foster kittens—but first, let’s talk about how we got here! Meet Frida and Diego (Formerly Selah and Paige… Wait, What?) We were going to announce two sweet little girls named Selah and Paige—after two of Iris’ classmates who were in the Beetlejuice Jr. school play with her this year (their last year at elementary school!). But in a classic foster kitten twist, we recently discovered that Paige is actually a boy! So, Amanda renamed our dynamic duo after another famous pair: Frida and Diego, inspired by the iconic artist couple Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. (Frida has long been one of Amanda’s favorite artists, so the name fits perfectly!) Who's who and how Both kittens are black and white, but with very different markings: Frida is a sleek tuxedo cat, mostly black with a dapper white neck and paws. Diego is a cow cat—more white with bold black patches, like a miniature Holstein. When they arrived at just two weeks old, both had minor kitty colds and goopy, crusty eyes. We’ve been treating them with Terramycin, an antibiotic ointment that looks a bit like Vaseline. So if you tune into our streams and notice something shiny or gel-like around their eyes—don’t worry! It’s just the medicine doing its job. The good news? Their eyes are already improving, and beyond that, these two are thriving. Bottle Babies Who Mean Business These little ones are bottle-fed pros—they eat like champs, gaining weight quickly and latching better than any fosters we’ve had recently, for the most part... Diego chews a lot. But It’s a relief to see them so strong and hungry! Want to see them in action? Here’s a clip from one of their recent feedings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTVa5v3bf6I Their healthy appetites give us high hopes for their growth and development. We’ll keep monitoring their eyes, but so far, they’re on the right track! Where to Follow Their Journey As always, you can catch Frida and Diego’s daily adventures on our live streams across platforms: Twitch YouTube Moonbeam (our newest platform, with an amazing cat-loving community!) We’re especially loving Moonbeam’s interactive features—it’s been a fantastic space to connect with other animal lovers. How You Can Support Frida and Diego Fostering isn’t just about cuddles (though there are plenty of those!). It takes resources to raise healthy kittens—formula, medications, heating pads, and more. Here’s how you can help: Donate to Our Fundraiser – Every contribution goes directly toward their care. [Donate here] Check Out Our Amazon Wishlist – We’ve updated it with essentials like kitten formula, soft blankets, and toys. [View Wishlist] Watch and Share Our Streams – The more people who follow along, the better chance these babies have of finding their perfect forever homes! Speaking of streams every Purrsday Sam does a live bottle feeding exclusively on youtube, here's the next stream! https://youtube.com/live/1ijAMRqipAk?feature=share What’s Next? We’ll keep sharing updates as Frida and Diego grow—from their first wobbly steps to (hopefully) clear, bright eyes soon! Thank you for being part of their journey. In the meantime, don’t forget: Follow us on Twitch, YouTube, and Moonbeam for daily kitten content. Snag some merch – Our store helps fund our fosters! [Shop Here] Drop a comment – Which kitten do you think will be the troublemaker? Welcome to the world, Frida and Diego! We can’t wait to watch you grow. P.S. If you missed their naming backstory: Yes, we almost introduced them as Selah and Paige—but foster life is full of surprises! Who else has had a kitten gender reveal shock? Tell us your stories below!

Save LA’s Animal Shelters: What You Need to Know About the Proposed Closures | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

Introduction The City of Los Angeles is at a crossroads. Proposed budget cuts threaten to close half of the city's animal shelters, drastically increase euthanasia rates, and create a dangerous public health crisis. This decision doesn’t just affect the animals — it affects the entire community. It's crucial for all residents to understand what's happening and why it's urgent to act. 👉 SIGN THE PETITION to help save our shelters! What’s Being Proposed? Mayor Karen Bass' proposed 2025-26 city budget includes deep cuts across many departments, but few are hit as hard as Los Angeles Animal Services (LAAS). The proposal would slash nearly $5 million from LAAS's operating budget, aiming to address a massive $1 billion citywide deficit. If passed, the cuts will: Lay off 62 critical employees, including animal care technicians, animal control officers, and veterinary staff. Permanently eliminate 60 additional vacant positions that the shelters need to function properly. Force the closure of three out of six shelters: Harbor, West Los Angeles, and West Valley. This move would leave only three shelters to serve the entire sprawling city of Los Angeles — a logistical nightmare for both the public and the animals who rely on these services for survival. ✨ Official Documents: 📂 Read the Official Proposal Document Why You Should Care You might think this doesn't affect me — but it absolutely will. Without sufficient shelter space, euthanasia rates will skyrocket. Animals will be killed not because they are sick or dangerous, but simply because there will be no room to house them. https://www.tiktok.com/@cuteavalanche/video/7498467216099134762 Worse still, many animals will be turned away entirely, left to fend for themselves on the streets. This creates a public health crisis: Stray animals will roam neighborhoods, leading to increased dog bites, car accidents, and the spread of disease. Emergency response times will be delayed because animal control officers will have to cover far larger areas with fewer staff. Shelter access will be limited, making it much harder for residents to adopt or rehome pets, especially for low-income families without easy access to transportation. But it doesn't stop there. Homeowners and taxpayers will see real financial impacts too: Property values could decline in neighborhoods overwhelmed by stray animals, making it harder to sell or refinance homes. Home insurance rates could spike due to an increase in liability claims from dog bites and property damage caused by stray animals. Auto insurance premiums could climb because more accidents involving animals will occur. Taxes may rise as the city struggles to fund emergency services, public health responses, and street clean-up efforts. In short: these budget cuts don't just endanger animals — they endanger your wallet, your safety, and your quality of life. 👉 SIGN THE PETITION to demand a better future for LA's animals and communities. What Happens if Shelters Close? (Our Predictions) ✨ Infographic: Effects of Closing Three Shelters Timeline (Insert Here) Immediate (Day 1-2) On the first day alone, remaining shelters will reach overcapacity. Staff will have to make immediate decisions on euthanizing animals to create space. People seeking to surrender pets will be turned away. Emergency animal control calls will be delayed. Short-Term (Week 1 - Month 1) Within a week, diseases such as kennel cough, parvovirus, feline panleukopenia, and upper respiratory infections will begin to spread rapidly in overcrowded shelters. Stray animals carrying parasites like fleas and ticks will appear in increasing numbers across neighborhoods, creating significant public health hazards. The remaining shelters, operating far beyond safe capacity, will face a total collapse of services. By the end of the first month, the city will be grappling with a full-blown animal welfare and public safety crisis. One Year Later By the one-year mark, financial costs to the city will soar. Emergency services, lawsuits, and public health interventions could easily rack up $10-20 million. Factoring in the impact on citizens and insurance industries, the real cost could be over $100 million. This isn't just a humanitarian issue — it's an economic disaster in the making. 👉 SIGN THE PETITION The Long-Term Fallout: 2 Years, 5 Years, and 10 Years ✨ Infographic: 2-5-10 Year Projection (Insert Here) At 2 Years: Without shelters, stray animals breed uncontrollably. Diseases like rabies, mange, and parasites spread unchecked. The city is forced to spend $30-50 million annually just trying to contain the situation. At 5 Years: Los Angeles could become known nationwide for its street dog problem. Tourists avoid the city. Real estate values dip. Auto insurance rates climb. Public hospitals see more animal attack injuries. Total estimated cost to the city and its citizens: $200-400 million. At 10 Years: By the decade mark, LA could be facing a cumulative cost of over $1 billion. Public confidence in leadership plummets. It will take generations to rebuild the animal welfare system that was allowed to collapse. Who Are the Decision Makers? The following elected officials have the power to prevent this catastrophe: 👨‍💼 Bob Blumenfield — Los Angeles City Council, District 3 👨‍👩‍👦 Hugo Soto-Martinez — Los Angeles City Council, District 13 👨‍👩‍👦 John Lee — Los Angeles City Council, District 12 👨‍👩‍👦 Karen Bass — Mayor of Los Angeles EDIT: Here's a list of City Council Emails: councilmember.hernandez@lacity.orgCouncilmember.Nazarian@lacity.orgcouncilmember.blumenfield@lacity.orgcontactCD4@lacity.orgcouncilmember.yaroslavsky@lacity.orgcouncilmember.padilla@lacity.orgcouncilmember.rodriguez@lacity.orgcouncilmember.harris-dawson@lacity.orgcouncilmember.price@lacity.orgcd10@lacity.orgcouncilmember.park@lacity.orgcouncilmember.Lee@lacity.orgcouncilmember.soto-martinez@lacity.orgCouncilmember.Jurado@lacity.orgcouncilmember.mcosker@lacity.org Let them know this is unacceptable. Sample Email to Send Subject: Save Los Angeles Animal Shelters – Oppose Budget Cuts Dear [Name], As a resident and advocate for the humane treatment of animals, I am urging you to oppose the proposed budget cuts to Los Angeles Animal Services. Closing three shelters and laying off essential staff will not only harm thousands of innocent animals but will create serious public health and safety risks for our city. Please protect our shelters, our animals, and our communities. Use the allocated Unappropriated Balance funds to restore Animal Services’ budget in full. Los Angeles can and must do better. Thank you for your leadership, [Your Full Name][Your Zip Code][Optional: Phone Number] How You Can Help There’s no time to waste. Here's what you can do right now: ✅ SIGN THE PETITION and share it with your friends and family. ✅ Send an email to decision makers — even one message makes a difference. ✅ Spread awareness by posting about the issue on social media. ✅ Attend protests and city hall meetings to make your voice heard. https://www.youtube.com/live/oGmKTdNRrJQ?si=kfV8uILMTaqc-AtY Save LAs Animals! The future of Los Angeles' animal welfare system hangs in the balance. This is about more than animals — it's about protecting our neighborhoods, our public health, and our shared humanity. Los Angeles has a choice: 🐾 Protect our animals, our citizens, and our communities...❌ Or pay dearly for decades to come. Don't let the worst happen. **👉 **SIGN THE PETITION NOW! CuteAvalanche Recap: Kitten Updates, Moonbeams, and Celebrations | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

April 28, 2025 Life at Cute Avalanche continues to be full of surprises, from foster kitten changes to exciting platform developments and family milestones. Let's get into all the details. Foster Kitten Updates: Harper's Departure and New Arrivals Delayed Our current foster Harper left us yesterday, Sunday, April 27th. We've loved watching this little one grow from a bottle baby to an adoption-ready kitten. To celebrate her journey, we're sharing a special clip from a couple weeks ago of Amanda bottle feeding Harper: Watch Harper's Bottle Feeding Moment (see below). We had expected to welcome two new kittens from a litter of four (two black and two color point) this weekend. However, we received word that sadly one of the kittens didn't make it and the current foster wants to keep the remaining three kittens together after experiencing the loss in the litter. While this is absolutely the best decision for the kittens' wellbeing, it means we'll need to wait for another opportunity as we don't currently have the space or ability to take on three bottle babies at once. Don't worry - we should have new fosters soon! Kitten season is in full swing and it's only a matter of days before a pair of bottle babies shows up. In the meantime, our live streams may feature a playlist of past kitten highlights until the next arrivals. As always, you can catch all the kitten action on our live streams across platforms. How You Can Help:Fostering requires resources - from formula and food to medical care and supplies. If you'd like to support our efforts, please consider contributing to our fundraiser - help us hit our original March goal of $500. Every bit helps us prepare for the next kittens who need us. Moonbeam Streaming: Spotlight and Our Animals Realm We recently added Moonbeam to our multicasting lineup, and the response has been incredible. The staff and viewers on Moonbeam have been wonderfully supportive of our foster kittens. In fact, we've been featured in some of their content, including this video where they featured our kitten cam in the background behind the CEO: Moonbeam Compensation for Realm Owners on Moonbeam (video). One Moonbeam staff member made a sitewide post that also included us:Every week during our Moonbeam staff meeting I spend the last 5 minutes asking the team 'did you see this?' We like to talk about the fun and interesting things y'all are doing on the platform. Today we talked about the exciting news that Harper over on cuteavalanche's stream is going to a foster home which means new kittens! Moonbeam has launched an exciting new feature called Realms - essentially groups or collectives of streamers. We were selected to create an Animals Realm, which currently includes our channel and will soon feature lukemckay's Squirrel Cam. What makes Moonbeam's Realms particularly innovative is the monetization system. Unlike other platforms, new streamers can begin earning immediately, and the platform allows you to set up payment distributions for your entire team - you can allocate percentages to moderators, editors, or other team members exactly as you choose. You can find our Moonbeam streams at https://www.moonbeam.stream/user/cuteavalanche The animals Realm is found at: https://www.moonbeam.stream/Animals If you have any interest in trying your hand at being an animal streamer, join the realm on Moonbeam and let me know, I'll give you streamer access and if you need help getting started I can guide you Newsletter Transition and Updates After years of irregular communication (we've maybe sent 2 or 3 newsletters in the past 5 years), we're making big changes to our newsletter system. We've decided to transition from Mailchimp to WordPress, which hosts our blog. This move will allow us to be much more consistent with our updates. Going forward, subscribers can expect to receive weekly or at least monthly posts and emails from us. For those who aren't already subscribed to our blog, you can sign up at the bottom of this post. We want to assure everyone that we'll never overwhelm your inbox - at the very most, we might send 3 newsletters in a week, and that would only be for special circumstances in the future. Family Celebration: Iris Turns 10 A special shoutout to our daughter Iris, who celebrated her 10th birthday this past Saturday! It's hard to believe we no longer have a single-digit kid in the house now. Between parenting and fostering kittens, life is certainly never dull around here. Iris has been a big help with bottle feeding and potting Harper What's Next for Cute Avalanche While we wait for our next foster kittens to arrive, here's what you can look forward to: Continued streaming with highlight playlists of past fosters Development of our Animals Realm on Moonbeam, including the upcoming Squirrel Cam More consistent blog and newsletter updates Of course, new foster kittens coming soon! Thank you for being part of our journey. Your support means everything as we work to help these kittens find their forever homes. Don't forget to watch Harper's bottle feeding clip one more time: Harper's Bottle Feeding Moment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bDcuVMRPPI

Harper’s Big Week: New Digs, Wet Food Wins, and Bittersweet Goodbyes | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

Today was a big day for Harper. Let’s break down her latest adventures—and why we’re already feeling bittersweet about her progress. New Enclosure, New Adventures Harper moved into her larger enclosure this week, giving her plenty of space to explore as she starts staying awake longer. Soon, she’ll develop actual interests (beyond napping and screaming for bottles). What’s Inside: Two-Level Scratcher: For climbing and sharpening those tiny claws. Get Ready for Chaos! Kicker Toy: Ready for when her destructive urges kick in. Litter Box: Full disclosure—if you see “stuff” in there for hours (or days), it’s there on purrpose. We’re not slacking—just leaving “samples” to teach her the ropes! So far she hasn't shown much interest in the box and is only going when stimulated. Hopefully that changes soon. Wet Food: A Love Story The moment we’ve all waited for: Harper’s first taste of wet food. Spoiler: She’s obsessed. Watch her go full foodie mode (and maybe lick the bowl clean):🔗 Harper’s Wet Food Debut https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFOT3vfabEU She’s already gained a ton of weight from just a few meals. Progress? Absolutely. But her instant leap into “big kitten energy” means her time with us is almost up. She’ll head to another foster in 1-2 weeks—so start practicing your goodbyes now. Community Shoutouts: Heroes Behind the Scenes None of this would be possible without YOU. This week’s MVPs: ChaosTheGardner: Sent a couple of cans of KMR for future bottle babies. enough that if we get 2 fosters they're stay with us will lmost be completely Covered. Ormekhmm: Gifted a card that Amanda used to buy Harper’s scratcher, kicker toy, and other supplies. You folks make the magic happen. 🐾 Fundraiser Check-In Our Tiltify Kitten Season Fundraiser is still pushing toward $500. Your support keeps us stocked with: Wet food for hungry furballs Toys for future chaos agents Tiltify Current Rewards: $15: Give a house cat a Churu (Bear and Moose are on standby). $25: Make Sam wear cat ears on stream (he’s “practicing”). $30: Sam and Amanda take the BeanBoozle challenge (pray for them). Once we hit $500 on the Tiltify I'll unlock some more fun rewards 👉 Donate Here Urgent: Save Our Memories! Twitch highlights and Facebook broadcasts are vanishing. Help us archive years of fosters (including Harper’s early days!) by grabbing a hard drive from our Wishlist. Name your drive, and we’ll tag it forever. 👉 Amazon Wishlist Get Ready to Say GoodBye Harper’s journey is why we do this—even if it means crying in our coffee when she leaves. But that's price of progress, we'll be saying our Farewells soon and Harper will go off to another foster who will take her through to Adoption. Cross your fingers for updates, but we can't make any promises that the other foster will abide. Thanks for helping us turn helpless blobs into thriving, wet food-loving tornadoes of floof. News about News Letters Quick update, we previously ran our newsletter through Mailchimp, but after years of not sending out newsletters ever we made a change. Not long ago, WordPress (our blog) made an update to include a Newsletter as part of the blogs service so we've imported all our Newsletter subscribers to our blogs internal list. And thus you probably saw this in your email (if you're a subscriber) - if you didn't you can sign up below so you don't miss out on any new blogs!

Donate Here Milestones: 2500 YouTube Subscribers and Counting! 🎉 CLAWSOME NEWS: We’ve officially hit 2,500 YouTube subscribers! Thank you to everyone who’s joined the CuteAvalanche family. Let’s keep rolling toward 3,000—share our channel with your friends, family, or that coworker who secretly loves cat videos. YouTube Members Goal: We’re also pushing to welcome 5 YouTube Members. Members get exclusive perks like: Access to thousands of hours of raw footage from past live streams. Chat archives so you never miss a moment of the fun. Behind-the-scenes content and early updates. 👉 Become a Member Race Against Time: Saving Our Video Archives Twitch and Facebook are tightening their video storage policies, and we’re scrambling to save years of precious content. Both Twitch and Facebook have cracked down on their video storage policies, which will delete 7 years of livestream archives. We're moving over those archives as fast as possible. However, while Twitch makes this an easy process, Facebook only gives us the ability to download past broadcasts... and with our internet we can't upload them nearly as fast as download. So we've added some hard drives to our Amazon Wishlist to help store them as we try to move everything over. Twitch: Highlights are easier to download, but we need storage space—fast. Facebook: Past broadcasts are a nightmare to upload with our slow internet. How You Can Help: We’ve added hard drives to our Amazon Wishlist to store these memories. Every drive gets us closer to saving our furry legacy:👉 cuteavalanche.com/wishlist For right now, as these are raw archives often with hours and hours of not much happening we're uploading the majority of those archives as unlisted, until we can cut out the best parts and upload those separately as clips. However we will make those archives available as a YouTube Members Only perk - Members-Only Archive Fundraiser Updates: Churus, Cat Ears, and BeanBoozle Chaos Our Tiltify campaign is inching closer to the halfway mark at $215 of $500! Recent Donation Shoutout: Julie R. donated to spoil Bear and Moose with a Churu treat. Watch them lick their chops in a video coming soon to our Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and TikTok! 🐾 (Spoiler: They loved it.)Thank you Julie! We added some fun rewards to our Kitten Season Tiltify Fundraiser, so now you can support our foster kittens AND make Sam do some dumb stuff, or reward our cats with treats. More rewards to come but here's what we have currently - and look for group stretch goals on the campaign as well https://youtu.be/d7ZIp5_jOv0?si=XfpH74vRFJm1lKd3 New Rewards to Unlock: 🐱 $15: Give a house cat a Churu treat (live during a chat!). 🎧 $25: Make Sam wear cat ears for 5 minutes on stream. 🤢 $30: Sam and Amanda (maybe) take the BeanBoozle challenge. Group Goal Alert: Pool donations for a live bottle-feeding session with Sophie and Simon at $75 by this Friday March 21st! 👉 Donate Here When Sophie and Simon start weaning, we’ll be using Steve’s Raw Food—a brand we swear by for our own cats. A massive THANK YOU to our community for these recent wins: ChaosTheGardener: Sent a bag of litter and 3 cat scratchers (the kittens are already testing them!). Hans: Gifted a card that Amanda used to stock up on KMR, wet food, and dry food for Sophie and Simon. Urgent Needs: Hard drives, KMR, and kitten food are still top priorities. Every contribution helps:👉 cuteavalanche.com/wishlist Anyone who sends a Hard Drive - I will name it after you or your name of choice (nothing crass, we reserve the right to veto bad stuff) - Just add the name you want for the drive on the gift memo (or send me a message) Foster Kitten Update: Sophie & Simon’s Big Move Our tiny fosters, Sophie (dilute tortie) and Simon (black-and-white mischief-maker), are thriving at 4 weeks old! Onver the weekend we moved them from the carrier to a large crate/enclosure where they have a bunch of room to run around. They got their first litter box, so far Sophie has certainly figured it out. Not positive about Simon, but at the same time we're not seeing big messes outside the litter box. Upgraded Digs: They’ve moved to a larger enclosure—more space for wobbly adventures! Feeding Time: Watch Amanda bottle-feed Simon in this heartwarming clip: Bottle Feeding Clip. Cuteness Overload: Check out their latest pics below Get your fill of floof and cuteness with these pictures of Simon and Sophie Members-Only Alert: Catch the full Caturday Chat playback (including sleepy kitten antics) as a YouTube Member:👉 Members-Only Archive Be prepared the kittens won't be with us too much longer! If you missed last weeks Cat Chat, Amanda explained that once the kittens ween from milk to wet food (within the next 2 weeks or so), they'll be ready to head off to another foster. Sophie, Simon, and St. Catricks Day Updates – Weekly Recap | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

Celebrating 20K on Twitch and Welcoming New Fosters – Weekly Recap | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

What a week it’s been! From hitting major follower milestones to welcoming not one but two new foster kittens, the CuteAvalanche community has been buzzing with excitement. Let’s dive into the highlights and see what’s coming up next! Milestones Galore We’re thrilled to share some incredible milestones from across our platforms: Twitch: We just hit 20,000 followers! 🎉 YouNow: Our channel reached 1,000 followers—thank you for your support! DLive: We’re closing in on 3,000 followers (currently at 2,800). YouTube: We’re at 2,489 subscribers and counting! These milestones wouldn’t be possible without your support. Let’s keep the momentum going—follow, subscribe, and share to help us reach even bigger goals! While Twitch is always our main homebase growing our YouTube channel could make our discoverability boom - so please, if you haven't already Subscribe to our YouTube channel and watch some videos there. St. Catricks Day is Here! Our annual St. Catricks Day event is officially underway! This marks the 4th or 5th year of our Rainbow Hunt, and we’re excited to bring even more fun and rewards to the table. Whether you’re chasing rainbows, collecting Shamrocks, or dodging the mischievous Leopardchaun, there’s something for everyone. The event runs until the end of March, so don’t miss out! Join us on Twitch or YouTube to play. Fundraiser Update Our Tiltify fundraiser has hit a bit of a stall at $200, but we’re grateful for the additional $100 donated outside the campaign. Every dollar helps us support animal rescues, transport fosters, and provide food for community feeders. If you’d like to contribute, you can donate here: cuteavalanche.com/give2025. Urgent: Help Us Save Our Videos! Both Twitch and Facebook have announced major changes to their video storage policies. Twitch is removing Highlights, and Facebook is removing Past Broadcasts. This means we could lose dozens of terabytes of precious video content. We’re working hard to download and save everything, but we need your help! We’ve added hard drives to our Amazon Wishlist: cuteavalanche.com/wishlist. We’d love to secure at least 4 drives to start, but we’re not even sure if that’ll be enough. If you’re able to contribute, it would mean the world to us—and to the animals we help. Meet Sophie and Simon, Our New Foster Kittens We’re excited to introduce our newest foster kittens, Sophie and Simon! Sophie is a 2-week-old dilute tortie named after the beloved character from The BFG by Roald Dahl. She was brought to us first, and shortly after, Simon arrived at the shelter with two other siblings. Simon is thought to be from the same litter, but he’s a bit underweight and slower in development. It’s possible he hasn’t been eating well or is from a separate litter born to the same colony but by a different mom. Both kittens are adorable, and we’re doing everything we can to help them thrive. Amanda wants to keep the kittens in the living room, which has made streaming them a bit of a technical challenge. Our main streaming PC is in the bedroom, and running a camera cable to the living room just isn’t feasible. To solve this, I’ve decided to buy a mini PC for about $150 using my own birthday gift cards. This will allow us to set up a 24/7 stream with night vision so you can enjoy all the kitten cuteness! If you’d like to help chip in for the cost of the mini PC, you can send a gift card from our Wishlist with a memo that it’s for the mini PC. For our YouTube friends, SuperChats or SuperThanks with a similar message would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all—we’ll get you as much of this cuteness as possible while these little ones are with us! (Note: They’ll only be with us for a handful of weeks. Once they hit 8 weeks old, Amanda will be passing them off to another foster.) Upcoming Chats Join us for an exclusive YouTube chat this Thursday at 10 AM PST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nMzQgCjOyQ This week, we won’t have a Saturday chat, so don’t miss the Thursday session! How You Can Help Donate to Our Fundraiser: cuteavalanche.com/give2025. Support Our Video Archive Effort: Purchase a hard drive from our Wishlist: cuteavalanche.com/wishlist. Help with the Mini PC: Send a gift card from our Wishlist or use SuperChat/SuperThanks on YouTube with a note for the mini PC. Join the St. Catricks Day Fun: Play the Rainbow Hunt on Twitch or YouTube. Subscribe and Follow: Help us hit our next milestones on Twitch, YouTube, YouNow, and DLive. Thank you for being part of the CuteAvalanche community. Together, we’re making a difference for animals in need—one milestone, one foster, and one purr at a time!

Blog Post: “Get Sweet Revenge and Support Cats This Valentine’s Day with Cuteavalanche’s ‘Box of Shame’!” | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

Valentine’s Day is all about love, but let’s be honest—sometimes it’s also about revenge. Whether it’s that ex who ghosted you, the coworker who stole your lunch, or the barista who still can’t spell your name right, we’ve all got someone who deserves a little karmic justice. And what better way to serve it up than by supporting adorable foster cats in need? Introducing Cuteavalanche’s “Box of Shame”—a purr-fectly petty (and hilarious) way to get back at your nemesis while helping cats in need. Here’s how it works: Donate $14 or more to support our foster cats and their care. Add the name of your ex, frenemy, or that person who just really grinds your gears in the donation message. We’ll write their name on a heart-shaped piece of paper... and then place it in our foster cats’ litter box! Watch as the cats paw, bury, or destroy the heart on our 24/7 Cat Cam livestream. The best part? The hearts stay in the litter box for several hours, or until the cats have had their fun and the hearts are completely destroyed. It’s the ultimate blend of sweet revenge and wholesome cat content. Why You Need to Participate: Catharsis: Let’s face it—venting feels good. And what’s more satisfying than seeing your ex’s name get buried in a litter box by an adorable cat? Guilt-Free Fun: You’re not just being petty; you’re helping cats in need. Every donation goes directly to supporting our foster cats and their care. Bragging Rights: Share the livestream with your friends and say, “Look what I did!” It’s the ultimate conversation starter. How to Get Started: Visit https://cuteavalanche.com/VDAY to make your donation (or scroll to the bottom of this post). Add the name of your chosen “shamee” in the donation message. Tune into our 24/7 Cat Cam on Twitch.tv/cuteavalanche or YouTube to watch the magic happen. Don’t miss out on this purr-fect opportunity to spread some love (and a little chaos) this Valentine’s Day. The promotion runs until February 21st, so act fast! Subscribe and stay up to date with everything we're doing!

Thank You for an Un-Fur-gettable Year, Kitten Krew! | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

As we wrap up another year filled with whisker-twitching moments, cozy cuddles, and heartwarming purrs, we want to extend our sincerest gratitude to each and every one of you, our incredible Kitten Krew. Your support has been the cat’s pajamas, and we’re feline blessed to have such a pawsome community by our side! This year hasn’t been without its challenges. Back in May, a devastating house fire turned our lives upside down, forcing us to leave behind the home where we fostered countless kittens. While we were unable to foster this year due to our new living situation, we refused to let that stop our mission of helping vulnerable kittens and supporting animal rescues. What We’ve Been Up To Even without fosters in our care, 2024 has been a year of growth, adaptation, and new opportunities for CuteAvalanche. Here are just a few highlights: Supporting Other Rescues: We’ve been boosting the efforts of other animal rescues and shelters, sharing their adoptable animals with our audience and helping connect these furry friends with their forever homes. Livestream Playlists Featuring Past Fosters: Our livestreams have continued to provide hours of cat-centric entertainment, showcasing clips of past fosters and engaging events for the Kitten Krew. Plus, we’ve kept up our Weekly Caturday Chats, where we touch base with everyone every Saturday, keeping the connection alive and strong. Your participation has helped keep the spirit of fostering alive! Holiday Livestream Catmas Experience: This season, we’ve been decking the halls of our livestream with our Catmas Ornament Takeover! Viewers like you can adopt digital ornaments to decorate our virtual tree, helping us raise funds for our efforts. There are only a few ornaments left, so don’t miss out! Celebrate the Holidays with CuteAvalanche This holiday season, we’re bringing the festive cheer with: Holiday Merch: From our two Santa Claws designs to the green and gold cozy traditional holiday scene, there’s something for every cat lover. While it’s too late for Catmas presents to arrive this year, it’s never too early to stockpile for next year—and don’t fur-get, some designs are limited edition! Show off your holiday spirit while supporting our work by visiting cuteavalanche.com/merch. Wishlist Giving: Looking to spread some holiday cheer? Check out our Amazon Wishlist to send much-needed supplies for the kittens we hope to foster again in the future. Introducing Our New Foster Kittens! Welcome, cat lovers! We're thrilled to announce the arrival of two adorable new fosters in our care. These tiny bundles of fur were each discovered at separate shelters in Los Angeles, one in East Valley and the other in West Valley. Both kittens are approximately three days old, with their eyes still closed and their umbilical cords attached. Bottle Babies on Board! As these little ones didn't have a mother to care for them, we've taken on the responsibility of bottle-feeding them every two hours, even during the night! Our furry friends are currently enjoying Kitten Milk Replacement (KMR), but we could use more supplies to keep up with their needs. Check out our Amazon wishlist to lend a helping paw! Won’t someone Think of the Babies!? | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

When a tabby mom and her newborns found their way to the shelter, our feline senses tingled, and we knew we had to swoop in to save the day! 🦸‍♂️🐱 Despite the mystery surrounding the exact number of kittens (4? 5? 6?), we're gearing up for a new adventure with these tiny fluffballs. This includes a constant supply of healthy wet food, maybe some dry food, and of course, plenty of litter to keep things tidy. 🍲🚿 Reminiscent of the resilient Momma Lorraine from the Cats to the Future litter, who transformed from a street-savvy cat to a bundle of affection, we're hopeful for the same journey with our new mom. 🌈✨ Why Your Support Matters: These initial days are critical for the well-being of both mom and kittens. Your donations can ensure a steady supply of nutritious food, creating the foundation for a happy and healthy family. Indoor vs Outdoor Cats: Making the Right Choice | Cuteavalanche 24/7 Foster Cat Cam

It's a decision that cat owners worldwide grapple with: should our feline friends lead an indoor or an outdoor life? To make an informed decision, it's crucial to understand the very essence and instincts of cats that have survived within them through evolution. By focusing on the nature and behavior of these fascinating creatures, we can unravel how these elements interact with different living environments. Going beyond just observations, we delve into scientific studies, expert opinions and real-life experiences to bring forth a panoramic view of a cat's life, indoors and outdoors. This discussion serves to enhance our understanding and build an informed perspective on the topic. Understanding the Nature and Behavior of Cats Natural Instincts and Behavior of Cats Cats are natural predators, bred from wild relatives who thrive in outdoor environments. Their instincts involve hunting, climbing, scratching, and exploring. They have evolved to adapt brilliantly to life in the great outdoors, where they can display their hunting prowess by capturing rodents or other small prey. Their instinct to scratch serves multiple purposes, helping to keep their claws sharp and to mark their territory, sending messages visually to other cats while leaving their own scent. Climbing, another instinctual behavior, provides a vantage point for spotting potential prey and helps in avoiding threats. Indoor Cats: Environment and Behavior On the flip side, indoor cats have a drastically different lifestyle. They have an easy routine reliant on human caretakers. Owners dictate when and what their cats eat, eliminating the need for cats to hunt. Instead of climbing trees and exploring wide territories, indoor cats often stay within the same four walls for most of their lives. However, this indoor lifestyle does not eliminate the cat's natural instincts. They may still exhibit hunting behavior through chasing toys or their own tails, climbing indoor furniture, and scratching posts or furniture. Hyperesthesia, over-grooming, and stalking are also reported in indoor cats, typically arising from a lack of stimulation. Outdoor Cats: Freedom and Risks In contrast, outdoor cats are free to express their natural instincts to their heart's content, chasing wildlife, marking their territories as needed, exploring broad regions, and climbing to high vantage points. However, this freedom comes with certain risks. Outdoor cats are more likely to encounter diseases and injuries because of fights with other animals, car accidents, and exposure to harsh weather conditions. Scientific-studies on Cats' Living Environment Scientific studies on cats' living conditions show interesting results. Seth B. Magle, director of the Urban Wildlife Institute at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, conducted a study in 2013. His findings reported that home ranges (the areas in which they live and hunt) are a key difference between indoor and outdoor cats. Outdoor cats have larger home ranges than indoor cats because they need to hunt for food, while indoor cats have their food provided for them. Another study published in the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery identified that indoor cats have a significantly lower risk of injury compared to outdoor cats. Understanding the Essentials of Cat's Indoor vs Outdoor Lifestyle The decision to keep a cat indoors or outdoors merits careful consideration of several factors including the cat's inherent instincts, unique personality, and the potential risks associated with each choice. While some cats are perfectly comfortable living indoors, given adequate environmental stimulation such as interactive toys and climbing installations, others may show clear signs of discontentment with indoor confinement, expressing an incessant desire to explore the outdoors. The owner’s circumstances also play a critical role in this decision-making process. While some owners are ready and able to shoulder the additional expenses of veterinary care that typically come with outdoor cat injuries or illnesses, others living in apartment structures sans outdoor space might find an indoor-only cat more feasible. Understanding the feline behavior and instincts can guide owners in creating an environment that not only appeals to their pet’s instinctual behavior but also ensures their safety against potential dangers. Regardless of an indoor or outdoor lifestyle, the focus should always be on fostering an environment where they can express their instincts while staying protected. Pros and Cons: Indoor Living for Cats The Indoor Lifestyle for Cats: Emphasizing Safety The central argument for maintaining an indoor lifestyle for cats stems from concerns regarding their safety. When roaming outdoors, cats are exposed to a slew of hazards, such as traffic accidents, wildlife predators, and risks of communicable diseases like feline leukemia or the feline immunodeficiency virus. Moreover, the chances of injuries from animal fights, and exposure to parasites like fleas and ticks increase significantly in outdoor environments, according to the ASPCA. Outdoor cats also present the risk of getting lost, or in the worst scenario, being stolen. By keeping cats primarily indoor, these risks are substantially mitigated, if not entirely eliminated. Controlled Diet and Health Conditions Being an indoor cat can be beneficial for health in other ways. When a cat lives indoors, their diet can be monitored and controlled, which can prevent obesity, diabetes, and other diet-related illnesses. Indoor cats generally live longer, healthier lives than their outdoor counterparts due to controlled meals, regular medical check-ups, and safety from outdoor hazards. For instance, a study from the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association suggests that indoor cats often live over 15 years, compared to just seven years for outdoor cats. Cons of Indoor Living: Reduced Physical Movement However, indoor living can have its drawbacks for cats. One of the most significant is reduced physical movement. Cats are natural hunters and explorers, and indoor environments don't always provide the same physical stimulation as the great outdoors. While owners can provide toys, scratch posts, and other activities, these may not fully compensate for the wide-open spaces and hunting opportunities that outdoor spaces provide. Lack of physical activity might lead to obesity in cats, which can be a potential risk to their health. Reduced Entertainment and Enrichment Opportunities Similarly, indoor cats might have fewer opportunities for stimulation and fun. Without exposure to varied environments and interactions, some cats may become bored or frustrated, leading to behavioral problems such as destructive clawing or excessive meowing. The American Veterinary Medical Association recommends providing indoor cats with plenty of toys, scratching posts, and attention to help mitigate these problems. Balancing Indoor and Outdoor Living Concerns around safety, diet, and stimulation have led some cat owners and experts to compromise by providing supervised outdoor time or creating controlled outdoor environments—like 'catios'—where cats can experience the outdoors safely. Famed animal behaviorist Jackson Galaxy recommends harness training for cats to provide controlled, safe excursions outside as a way to enrich indoor cats' lives. Indoor versus Outdoor Cats: A Balancing Act Keeping a cat indoors undoubtedly provides a safer environment, albeit with potential drawbacks. The restricted trials of an indoor lifestyle can cause cats to suffer from a lack of stimulation, possibly leading to excessive weight gain and behavioral issues. Conversely, an outdoor lifestyle, while imparting freedom and exploration, can expose felines to numerous hazards including accidents, falls, and confrontations with other animals. The ideal scenario may lie in striking a balance between the two, ensuring the cat's physical and emotional needs are catered to. It is up to the cat owners to figure out the best approach for their pet, whether that means arranging controlled outdoor adventures or enriching the indoor environment with various toys and stimulating activities. Pros and Cons: Outdoor Living for Cats The Upside of Outdoor Living for Cats The outdoor world can potentially offer cats a space where they can fully embrace their natural instincts. This unrestricted environment provides ample room for exploration, encouraging physical activities which contribute to weight maintenance and a reduced risk of obesity. An outdoor lifestyle allows cats to hone their natural instincts such as hunting and foraging for food, providing invaluable mental stimulation in the process. These shared experiences contribute greatly to their overall emotional health. Furthermore, outdoor living can deter some unwanted behaviors often seen in housebound cats like scratching furniture or other household items. Risks Associated with Outdoor Living for Cats One of the most significant risks for outdoor cats is exposure to various threats. Those threats include predatory animals, vehicular accidents, and potential cruelty from people. According to a study by the University of Georgia and the National Geographic Society, 45 percent of outdoor cats were observed to engage in risky behaviors daily. Outdoor cats are also at an increased risk of contracting diseases such as Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) or Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). They are more likely to come into contact with infected animals and parasites, and as they can wander off for days at a time, early symptoms of sickness may go unnoticed by owners. Further, the lifespan of outdoor cats tends to be shorter. Data from the American Humane Society suggests that outdoor cats live an average of 5-7 years, compared to indoor cats, which have an average lifespan of 12-15 years. Reducing Risks for Outdoor Cats Experts generally recommend that if cats are allowed outside, their risk should be minimized through various strategies. One such method is supervised outdoor excursions, where cats can roam and explore within a fenced area while under their owner's watchful eye. Vet visits should also be more frequent to ensure early detection and treatment of any potential health issues. Comparison with Indoor Cats Contrasting outdoor cats, indoor cats are generally considered safer from external threats, diseases, and have longer life expectancies due to the controlled environment. However, their mental stimulation and physical activity can be significantly reduced unless owners make efforts to simulate hunting and playing behaviors, such as using toys and interactive playtime. Deciding Between Indoor and Outdoor Living for Your Cat In the end, deciding if your cat should be an indoor cat or an outdoor cat depends on various factors such as your living environment, your cat's personality, and your ability to address potential risks.
