Professors from nearly 20 medical schools in South Korea pledged to resign on March 25, 2024 to protest against the government's plan to increase medical school admissions the following year. The yen fell on Tuesday after the Bank of Japan (BOJ) ended its negative interest rate policy in a monumental but highly anticipated decision, while the Australian dollar also slid after its central bank kept rates steady. The BOJ ended eight years of negative interest rates and other remnants of its unorthodox policy at the conclusion of its two-day policy meeting, making a historic shift away from decades of massive monetary stimulus. The BOJ also said on Tuesday it will reduce the amount of government bonds it will purchase after ending its negative interest rate policy and abolishing yield curve control, while also discontinuing purchases of exchange-traded funds and Japanese real estate investment trusts.
The proportion of U.S. abortions administered by medication rose to more than 60% in 2023, following a dramatic decline in surgical abortion access after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, a report said on Tuesday. The Supreme Court's 2022 decision to end abortion rights allowed more than a dozen states to ban abortion with limited exceptions and close clinics, restricting access to surgical abortion procedures. That in turn led to a growing reliance on a two-pill regimen to terminate pregnancies, with U.S. abortions administered by pill increasing 10% since 2020, according to the Guttmacher Institute, an abortion rights advocacy group.

Over the course of slightly more than an hour, the two men jousted over subjects ranging from the political consequences of immigration and the benefits and harms of content moderation to Musk’s symptoms of depression and his use of ketamine to alleviate them.
Tuesday's Democratic primary for one of three contested seats on the Ohio Supreme Court will kick off a high-stakes battle for partisan control of the court this fall. Ohio is one of 33 states with supreme court races this year and among the few where voters have an opportunity to flip partisan control of the court. To do so, Democrats must sweep all three races in November, retaining two incumbents — Justices Michael Donnelly and Melody Stewart — and winning an open seat.
The Timberwolves were trailing Utah by one midway through the third quarter Monday in Utah when Anthony Edwards took flight. Cutting down the lane in transition with only John Collins standing between the guard and the basket, Edwards elevated in a way that only he knows how. The 22-year-old took off from seemingly 10 feet away and soared up and through Collins, throwing down on the forward ...

Ryan Blaney was frustrated after the race. He felt that there was something different about the tire to the extent it was a different tire from the fall — that is how different the tire felt to him. Here's what he said after getting out of the car Sunday.
An open race to lead the nation’s second-largest prosecutor’s office is in voters' hands after a heated primary campaign in the Chicago area. The Democratic matchup for the Cook County state’s attorney primary features Eileen O’Neill Burke, a former appellate judge with a large campaign war chest, versus Clayton Harris III, a professor and attorney who’s held government posts. The race is open because Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx didn't seek a third term.
