As a photographer, I see the world through a different lens. I capture moments in time that would otherwise be lost forever. My photographs tell stories of love and loss, hope and despair. They document the human condition in all its beauty and sorrow. Through my lens, I have witnessed some of the most amazing moments in history. I have also seen the worst of humanity. But no matter what I am photographing, I always try to find the beauty in it. Because for me, that is what photography is all about.
For the past eight months, I’ve been working extensively with two of Canon’s EOS R1’s—Canon’s long-awaited flagship mirrorless body—in some of the harshest and most remote environments on the planet. From the snow-blasted cliffs of Hornstrandir to the sea ice of Svalbard, the windswept Arctic Circle island of Grimsey, to the frozen sea ice deep…
One of the most powerful tools a photographer has isn’t just the camera—it’s the choice of lens. Focal length not only determines how much of the scene you capture, but it also shapes how subjects relate to each other in scale and space. By deliberately choosing different lenses, you can either magnify a subject or minimize it, creating vastly different stories within the same world.
If you've been reading us for years, you'll know one thing: we went out of our way to feature news and interviews with photographers and their galleries moreso than any other photography publication. And in January of this year, something happened that made us say that we're taking a break from the art world. So this year, I've given direction to the staff to focus instead on just tech, combatting generative AI involved in image making, and more investigative stories. Additionally, we've leaned into the fact that we've tested the most cameras and lenses of any photo-speciality publication -- so we do lots of roundups. Who would've thought that it would be working for us?
When you're ready to update your family photos, one of the first decisions is location. Should you stay cozy in the studio or head outdoors for something a little more playful? Both are beautiful in their own way, but what works best really depends on your family, your season of life, and how much y
The Sony a900 and that entire era was quite a great time for the looks depts from Sony. Our presets are designed to make editing a minimal task so you can get back to shooting! We're in love with Retro Digital. Luckily, that's when we founded the website closer to two decades ago. So we dove into our image archives, looked at how the Adobe Gurus were telling us how to edit, and adapted those methods to create our Retro Digital Lightroom Presets and Capture One Styles. These are in addition to the popular Photojournalism presets that we released a while back.
Our Wild Nature Photo Travel expedition to Svalbard in April 2026 is now sold out - thank you. We are looking forward to stunning winter landscapes and, of course, Arctic wildlife! Read our 2025 Expedition Report HERE. We will very shortly be formally announcing our new extended 18-day expedition for Autumn light in 2027!
Spread the love Hey pros! Listen up! Our photography insurance program is designed to be there when photographers really need it! We’re giving you more than the competition can in different ways! Here’s a little-known fact: the warranty of your camera or lens doesn’t necessarily cover what happens to it in case of dust, inclement weather, …
In February this year, Helen and I used some of our timeshare points to spent a week at the Sabi River Bungalows resort operated by Southern Sun. The resort is bounded on the north and east side by the Sabi river which flows on into Kruger Park. There is a beautiful 18 hole golf course…
I’ve seen eagles with many a different and sometimes surprising food source including other birds, very large fish and even octopus, but this was a first and a surprise when we spotted this guy with a crab. I don't think the crab was still alive, but had it been, this eagle would have had to…
