New Gene Therapy Treatment in Oklahoma Can Help the Visually Impaired, Blind - DMEI | Dean McGee Eye Institute
The Dean McGee Eye Institute has collaborated with OU Health to offer Gene Therapy for an eye disorder that can cause severe vision loss. The treatment is called Luxturna. It’s the first FDA approved gene therapy to treat genetic mutations causing vision impairment of even blindness that people originally had to leave the state for. Oklahoma is the 15th location across the country to offer it.
