To incentivize, protect, and encourage investment in innovations made possible via artificial intelligence (AI), and to provide clarity to the public and USPTO employees on the patentability of AI-assisted inventions, the USPTO has published guidance in the Federal Register.
Attend an in-person, single-day workshop for entrepreneurs, small businesses, and start-ups in communities with limited or no internet access, covering what they should know about trademarks. The event is March 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET at UMES Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Princess Anne, Maryland.
Among the things you’d expect to find in a chemical engineer’s office—honorary awards, patent plaques, and books including “Environmental Analytical Chemistry” and “Introducing Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics”—Dr. Norma Alcantar’s office at the University of South Florida also showcases her love of life and teaching with books such as “Intentional Integrity.”
Located in the Terminal Annex Federal Building downtown, the Texas Regional Office serves Texas, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. It opened on Nov. 9, 2015—the same year “The Lone Star State” was made the official state nickname for Texas.
The USPTO will open a new regional office in the Atlanta, Georgia, metropolitan area serving innovators in the Southeast region, and a new community outreach office in Strafford County, New Hampshire, serving innovators in the New England region.
After eight months of input from stakeholders, the USPTO trademark search system launched on November 30. The new system provides a more stable search environment with a simplified search interface that also supports complex searching for advanced users.
Opened on October 15, 2015, the USPTO’s Silicon Valley Regional Office (SVRO) is appropriately housed in one of the area’s most impressive technological triumphs: San Jose City Hall, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Richard Meier and built in 2005.
