A Positive Award for the Star! Dua Lipa has won a new award, and it’s a very wholesome one: the Mental Health Champion of the Year Award from The Trevor Project, a crisis intervention nonprofit for LGBTQ young people. “Dua has been a fierce, longtime advocate for The Trevor Project’s life-saving mission,” the organization stated on its website. “In addition to Dua’s unwavering support of the LGBTQ+ community, she is a dedicated mental health activist, frequently discussing her own struggles over the years and how she maintains her well-being.” The Grammy Award winner expressed her gratitude in accepting the award, stating, “I am unbelievably moved and honored to receive this year’s Mental Health Champion of the Year Award.” She continued, “To every young person out there: know that you are loved, you are not alone, and The Trevor Project is a wonderful organization that is always there for you. The LGBTQ+ community has been my biggest champion since the start of my career, and I will continue to fight to make sure your voices are heard, your rights are protected, and you are treated with respect for being just the way you are.” Lipa is the fourth person to win the award from The Trevor Project, with Lil Nas X in 2021, Janelle Monáe in 2022, and Dylan Mulvaney winning the award last year. I also have to thank The Trevor Project for providing these images for news outlets to use, it was super convenient and made reporting this news a lot easier for me. Josie RavanMy name is Josie! Diddy is Trying to Break the Rules In recent years, no star has had a fall as hard as Sean “Diddy” Combs recently, after getting indicted for crimes involving sexual abuse and sex trafficking. The phrase “Diddy Party” has become an infamous phrase within the recent months. Due to his crimes, he is currently incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn awaiting his May 2025 trial. Diddy is once again getting himself into trouble. A recent court document has accused him of using the phone access of eight other inmates to enlist his children for a social media campaign around his birthday. The campaign appears to be an attempt to salvage his reputation and influence a potential jury. “The defendant’s efforts to obstruct the integrity of this proceeding include relentless attempts to contact potential witnesses— including victims of his abuse— who could provide powerful testimony against him,” prosecutors wrote. They also added, “The defendant has shown repeatedly—even while in custody—that he will flagrantly and consistently flout rules in order to improperly impact the outcome of his case. In other words, the defendant cannot be trusted to abide by rules or conditions.” Josie RavanMy name is Josie! Lover of music, video games, and other silly stuff. I also own too many plushies.
The producer was battling illness for many years. I feel bad that I haven’t written about Quincy Jones yet. You might not exactly know his name or face, but the music he produced was beyond legendary. Just a few examples of his work are Lesley Gore’s “It’s My Party,” Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and “Bad,” Frank Sinatra’s “It Might as Well Be Swing,” and many more. He also had many awards to his name, winning 28 Grammys. In more recent days he was also known for spilling a lot of music industry secrets alongside plenty of other very interesting and bizarre statements, such as claiming to know the truth being the Kennedy assassination, blaming mobster Sam Giancana. The legendary producer passed away on November 3rd of this year, at age 91. According to CNN who obtained his death certificate, his cause of death was pancreatic cancer, which he has secretly battling for years. Quincy is leaving behind a legacy that cannot really be challenged in music, President Joe Biden described him as “a great unifier, who believed deeply in the healing power of music to restore hope and uplift those suffering from hunger, poverty, and violence, in America and the continent of Africa.” Josie RavanMy name is Josie!
