Covers are songs you know, performed by people you probably don't know. But you should, because many of them are great singers, instrumentalists, and overall performers. Did you know that famous artists like Justin Bieber, Alessia Cara, Ariana Grande, Karmin, Tori Kelly, Shawn Mendes, and Pentatonix got their start by posting video covers online? Or that Ed Sheeran still loves performing covers? Did you know that singers Arnel Pineda of Journey and Tommy DeCarlo of Boston replaced the original lead vocalists in those bands after being discovered from covers they posted on the web? Here at Top10Covers.com we are dedicated to helping you hear the best of these performers.
A monumental performance of the Beatles classic by Prince, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, Dhani Harrison, and other great musicians in tribute to George Harrison at his 2004 Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame induction as a solo artist. Worth watching alone to see Dhani Harrison's reaction as Prince lights the fuse on his incendiary outro guitar solo.
PAB Music performs a cover of Radiohead's gorgeous track "Paranoid Android" from their masterpiece album OK Computer. This is a multitrack cover on which the cover artist plays all the parts and assembles them together. Great details here and very well done!
Alice Kristiansen & Jessie Marie Villa sat on a bench here and with only an acoustic guitar and their voices created a nuanced cover of Fleetwood Mac's 1976 hit "Rhiannon" from their mega-selling eponymous album.

If you were impressed by Ted Yoder's "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" Tears For Fears cover on dulcimer, so was Curt Smith, lead singer of Tears For Fears. He and his drummer Jamie Wollum stopped by Yoder's backyard in September 2016 to add vocals and percussion to the dulcimer specialist's version in this video. (Note: Audio is intermittent for the first few seconds): DULCIMER (Ted Yoder), VOCALS (Curt Smith), PERCUSSION (Jamie Wollum):
The popularity of PSY's "Gangnam Style," (in 2017 it still holds the record for most YouTube views of all videos), is likely in large part due to his inventive moves and quirky video as much as the musical composition itself. Here Albert Chang creates a "Gangnam Style" cover using a loop pedal and various instruments, filmed in a parking garage. UKULELE/BASS/BEAT BOXING/VIOLIN (Albert Chang):
Bronski Beat vocalist Jimmy Somerville pops in suddenly on this street performer's version of "Small Town Boy," the 1984 hit that put his group on the map. Somerville clearly enjoys himself, as does the cover performer.

While the 8th grade performers seemed to know what's up, the audience at this fundraising concert for Chords 2 Cure (a pediatric cancer research foundation) in Santa Monica, California were surprised when Chris Martin jumped on stage with the little band. They performed Coldplay's "Fix You" and "Twisted Logic" before launching into a bit of Prince's "Raspberry Beret" to close out the video.
The next time you see a flame-spewing, tattooed bag piper playing AC/DC, it'll probably be The Badpiper. Here he is lighting up AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" some time after he appeared on Australia's Got Talent, the down under version of the show made famous in the USA. BTW, R.I.P. Malcolm Young!
Van Halen's "Eruption" appeared on the band's 1978 debut album Van Halen. Guitarist Jacob Deraps is from Quebec, Canada and his band Deraps pay tribute to the mighty Eddie Van Halen here. R.I.P. EVH (1955-2020) indeed, rockin' in the skies now…

Okay here's something a bit different: A video cover, as has become popular on late night talk shows. Here Jimmy Fallon and Paul Rudd hilariously cover Styx classic "Too Much Time On My Hands" in a shot-by-shot remake of the original 1981 music video. And, just for fun, here's a split screen of the original music video next to the Fallon show re-creation:

Piano Around The World, as street pianist Dotan Negrin calls his performing show on the road, talks a violin case-carrying stranger named Ada into performing a duet with him on Bill Withers 70s hit "Just The Two Of Us." Hard to tell if this is really impromptu or planned with the terrific arrangement but either way still an entertaining performance.
Here is Mike Tompkins in a collaboration with Samantha Harvey covering "It Ain't Me," a track from Kygo & Selena Gomez. These artists created everything you hear with their voices only.

Okay, here's something unique, a cover of a cover. Six guys playing "Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye on a single ukulele while a couple of them sing the track, just like Walk Off The Earth did before they were featured on The Ellen Show. The Waffle Stompers are also pretty good. Who did it better? Rate them both and tell us! Here is Walk Off The Moon's version on a single guitar. Giving them credit, WOTM were first... UKULELE/VOCALS (The Waffle Stompers):
German groups AnnenMayKantereit and Milky Chance (vocalist/guitarist Clemens Rehbein, DJ/producer Philipp Dausch, and guitarist Antonio Greger) join up here on the street next to an abandoned building to cover The Police classic "Roxanne." The two groups are joined here by Malte Huck on bass.
