Our first Electric For All consumer awareness campaign was launched in 2018 during a time when EV policies and initiatives were controversial and new. As Veloz worked to bridge the political divide, we tapped a famous republican to be the face of our second campaign. The next education and awareness effort faced global pandemic and lockdown issues, and the following campaign launched at a time of policy support and excitement.
California added 100,671 new electric vehicles in Q2 2025, claiming 21.6% of the state’s light-duty vehicle market. That’s a modest dip from 23% in the prior quarter, yet it marks twelve straight quarters with EV share holding above 20 percent — evidence of a maturing market. Nationally, 310,839 new EVs were sold in Q2 2025, representing a 4.9% increase over Q1, with total new EV sales for the first half of the year reaching a record 607,089, up 1.5% year-over-year. Used EV retail sales in the U.S. also passed a threshold long-anticipated by analysts, surpassing 100,000 units for the first time. Taken together, these numbers suggest a market that has moved beyond the proving ground stage and into a stage where the mainstream consumer is taking the wheel.
Electric vehicles (EVs) are changing the way people drive—and save—right now. Millions of drivers are already spending less on gas and maintenance and taking advantage of available incentives by buying new and used EVs. Others haven’t made the switch because they don’t realize how much they could save. At the same time, federal incentives end September 30th and state EV tax credits and policies are under threat creating more consumer questions. With lower costs to maintain and a smooth, quiet ride, EVs are a smart financial choice now and into the future.
As most Americans know, the price of gas is not something we can control. A single international conflict, refinery outage, or decision from OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) can send costs at the gas pump skyrocketing overnight, forcing families to rearrange budgets just to get to work, school or to the grocery store. But more and more drivers are realizing they can opt out of this cycle altogether. By choosing an EV, they’re choosing electricity as a fuel and costs are not only lower, but also far more predictable. Not to mention, electricity as a fuel is much cleaner and reduces harmful air pollution. Electric vehicles (EVs) already beat gas-powered cars on total cost of ownership in most parts of the U.S. That’s thanks to cheaper “fuel” (electricity), fewer moving parts, and no oil changes—ever. And with gas hovering around $4 a gallon in many states, those day-to-day savings add up fast.
California closed 2024 on a high note in Q4 with 108,303 new EV sales — an increase of 6% over Q4 2023 sales. The state also surpassed 2.2 million cumulative new EV sales in Q4 2024, recording 2,213,296 million EVs sold by the end of the year, up from 1,769,922 in 2023. This marks 443,374 new EVs sold in 2024, a slight increase from the 441,283 sold in 2023. California’s increase in Q4 mirrors many automaker announcements of record-breaking EV sales across the nation at the end of the year.
Electric vehicles (EVs) are no longer the cars of tomorrow — they’re the cars of today, parked in driveways and on curbs across the country, saving drivers money every day. Even with potential impact of tariffs and other market fluctuations, falling battery prices, improving manufacturing efficiency, and increased competition among automakers, EVs are reaching affordability parity with gas cars — both upfront and over the life of the vehicle.
States and local governments have a unique and timely opportunity to lead with stable electric vehicle (EV) policy in the face of a shifting federal policy landscape. We’ve seen what states can do when they band together for a common goal. More than a decade ago, 10 states pledged to put 3.3 million EVs on the road by 2025. At the time, it was an ambitious prospect when there were only 200,000 EVs on the road and fewer than 20 models to choose from. The 10 states agreed to adopt similar incentives and regulations to encourage EV ownership, cut pollution, and boost their economies. Now, the state-led effort has hit the 3.3 million milestone, according to a recent report by the Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management...
Millions of Americans are ready to go electric — but misperceptions and unfamiliarity with electric vehicles (EVs) are holding them back. To address misinformation, Veloz, a nonpartisan 501 (c)(3) nonprofit and longtime innovator in EV education, has been awarded a $43.5 million sponsorship from Electrify America, the largest open Hyper-Fast charging network in the U.S., to mark the beginning of a much-needed national Electric For All consumer education effort.
Don’t buy into the headlines and naysayers. Regardless of recent government actions, there are bright spots nationwide as consumers continue to buy electric vehicles (EVs). U.S. consumers bought nearly 133,000 EVs last December, achieving a record-breaking 8.8% of all new cars sold. Florida is now the number two state in EV adoption. EV registrations in Central Florida surged 15.2% in just one year, outpacing the 9.4% national growth rate. Florida’s Orange County saw an even bigger jump — a 46% increase in fully electric and plug-in hybrid registrations from April 2023 to April 2024. In California, 2024 ended with 108,303 new EV sales in Q4 — an increase of 6% over Q4 2023 sales. The state also surpassed 2.2 million cumulative new EV sales in Q4 2024, recording 2,213,296 million EVs sold by the end of the year, up from 1,769,922 in 2023. EV’s in California had over a 25% market share by the end of 2024. While many factors influence the EV sales market, the threat of possible shifts in federal incentives may have contributed to stronger-than-expected sales in the fourth quarter. Regardless, automaker EV bets are starting to pay off.

We’ve had three U.S. presidents since the first modern electric vehicle (EV) came to market in 2010. Regardless of who sat in the Oval Office, EVs continued to make huge strides in availability, affordability, range and market share across the globe. And the charging infrastructure to support the growing number of EVs on the road continues to expand exponentially. And EV sales are growing in blue, red and purple states because EVs are for everyone. Life-long, self-described “petrol heads” agree.

With falling EV prices, a strong used EV market, more incentives and rebates available than ever before, and better affordability overall, there is an EV for everyone. Recent data conducted by Probolsky Research, in partnership with Veloz reveals that nearly 80% of current EV drivers in California plan to purchase another EV for their next car, refuting a survey in the headlines that said most EV owners would choose to go back to a gas car. Another national survey found that almost 90% of EV owners said they are “likely” or “very likely” to purchase an EV as their next car.

Contrary to some media headlines, the electrical grid as it exists today is prepared to handle the electric vehicles (EVs) currently plugging in and, as EV sales continue to increase, electric utilities are already planning improvements to accommodate millions more of them. While industry and policy leaders are making preparations to welcome new EV drivers to the road, utilities are identifying new technology solutions that allow EVs to benefit the grid — from cost reductions for all utility customers to reliability improvements to climate pollution reduction.

Media headlines over the last six months questioning the future of the electric vehicle (EV) industry, while provocative and no doubt driving the clicks they were designed to elicit, are not painting the full picture of the evolution happening across the globe in the transition to electrified transportation. The transition to EVs is just reaching its adolescence. Sales continue to rise globally and second-quarter U.S. sales climbed 11.3% from last year.

Veloz’s Q4 2023 EV Market Report is now available and shows strong annual light-duty EV sales growth in California, with a 29% increase in new EV sales from 2022 to 2023 and an 8.2% increase in new EV sales in Q4 2023 compared to Q4 2022.
Veloz is excited to share the Q2 Electric Vehicle (EV) Market Report, which shows tremendous EV growth in California and nationwide. EVs composed 25.4% of California’s light-duty market share — which means that one in four new cars sold in Q2 2023 were electric! In Q2 2023, California’s EV sales also eclipsed the 79,129 EVs sold in Q2 2022 — a 59% increase year-over-year. California’s EV market share compared to the rest of the U.S. is now at 34%, indicating a promising and steady climb in EV sales across the nation.
Veloz is proudly celebrating the shared victory of California reaching 1.5 million cumulative EV sales well ahead of earlier projections. With an astonishing 124,053 new electric vehicles sold in Q1 2023 — now California’s highest quarterly sales to date — California’s EV market drastically eclipsed the 33,165 EVs sold in Q1 2022, which is a 153% jump year-over-year. This increasingly consistent growth trend, along with California’s cumulative EV sales number exceeding 1.5 million this quarter, shows that the needle is moving quickly in the direction of 100% transportation electrification.

As we watch the war unfold in Eastern Europe, our hearts go out to the people of Ukraine, our colleagues whose family and friends are in danger and the people of Russia who do not want this war. As a global community, we rely on not only the generosity and kindness of our neighbors, but also on resources and goods from countries a world away. Russia is the third largest producer of petroleum in the world and the current geopolitical crisis illustrates how imperative it is to transition away from a fossil-fuel based economy for the health and safety of all people and our planet. At Veloz, an important part of our mission is to eliminate our dependence on oil by replacing all gas-powered vehicles with electric vehicles (EVs) in California and beyond. To do that, we need to think globally and act locally [...]
Electrified transportation is inevitable. Talk to anyone in the industry. We know it, and so do those who have a lot of money invested in fossil fuels. Some are moving quickly to adapt, while others are fighting the transition. To quote President Obama, “Hard things are hard.” A transition to an all EV future is hard but necessary. Recently, a private consulting group in the Midwest released a study claiming electric cars cost more to fuel than gas cars. It got some media traction, and a lot of pushback and scrutiny of their assumptions such as accounting for free charging at commercial rates. Car and Driver does a stellar job setting the record straight, however you can be sure that the study top-lines will be used again and again by those aiming to delay or derail electric vehicles. At Veloz, we are busting disinformation. We have the facts on our side and are laser-focused on making sure consumers are not fooled. That’s why we launched our EV mythbusting website and are planing a new Electric For All Mythbusters-style education campaign for next year [...]
At Veloz, our vision is that 100% of new cars sold throughout the state and the nation are electric. We often tout ditching the gas station and charging up at home — like you do your cell phone every night — as one of the greatest benefits of owning an electric vehicle. However, if we’re going to achieve our transportation electrification goals and bring the benefits of pollution-free, gas-free car ownership to more people, we need to find more ways to plug-in at townhouses, apartments and condos — known as multifamily or multi-unit dwellings. Installing charging infrastructure at multifamily dwellings is one of the biggest hurdles facing the transition to electric vehicles. There are two main issues that must be overcome to make multifamily dwelling charging easier: 1. The high costs of building new charging infrastructure. 2. The logistical difficulty of retrofitting older buildings that don't have the power capacity or panel space [...]
