World champion taiko drummer Takumi Kato is on a mission to spread peace through his music and performing 1000 concerts throughout all 50 United States - WXXI's Joshua Bassette caught his 401st performance, at a tea shop in Rochester, NY.
This Friday, 12/8 @ 7:30pm the Eastman-Rochester Chorus, Eastman Chorale, and Eastman School Symphony Orchestra under William Weinert will present a rare performance of a large-scale choral work by a fascinating and important female composer. The concert is free and open to the public.
As we come toward the end of March, traditionally recognized as Music In Our Schools Month, we pay tribute and congratulate the four area music teachers and one organization who were honored on Thursday evening March 16th at the RPO's 33rd Annual Music Educators' Awards Night.
February is Black History Month, and as we celebrate the musical accomplishments of composers, performers and other musicians of African descent on our broadcast, we also want to highlight the work that is being done through a variety of organizations that are dedicated to amplifying the voices and work of classical musicians of color. There are so many ensembles and organizations committed to lifting every voice, and over the next weeks, we hope to highlight just a few of them here.

This week, colleagues and students of Mrs. Günter-McCoy’s are arriving from around the world to celebrate her life with a program of Bach and Buxtehude. The event on Saturday, 5/28 at 4:30pm is free and open to all.
