New York City wants to clear the air for its 8 million residents New York City is taking steps to reduce air pollution in the city. Mayor Bill de Blasio announced plans to reduce emissions from buildings and other sources, as well as to install air quality monitors in public spaces. The city will also launch a public awareness campaign to educate residents about the importance of reducing air pollution.
