What Is a Driving Licence? A driving licence is an official document that allows a person to drive a motor vehicle on public roads. It is issued by the government and must be carried at all times when operating a vehicle. It must be renewed every few years and can be suspended or revoked if the holder fails to obey traffic laws. Depending on the country and type of licence, it may also allow the holder to operate certain types of vehicles such as motorcycles, buses and commercial vehicles.
