F. Scott Fitzgerald was an American novelist and short story writer who was best known for his classic novel The Great Gatsby. He was born on September 24, 1896, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century. Fitzgerald wrote several other novels and collections of stories, including Tender Is the Night, The Beautiful and Damned, and This Side of Paradise. He also wrote numerous short stories, many of which were published in magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post and Collier's Weekly. Fitzgerald's works are often seen as a portrait of the Jazz Age, a term he coined himself. He died on December 21, 1940, in Hollywood, California.
