Fiat Chrysler in Talks to Merge With France's Renault Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (FCA) is in talks to merge with the French carmaker Renault SA (RNO.PA) in a deal that would create one of the world’s largest carmakers. The two companies have been in talks for weeks and are now close to finalizing a deal that could be announced as soon as Monday, according to people familiar with the matter. The deal would create a company with annual sales of more than $190 billion and could give the combined company a stronger foothold in Europe and other markets. The merger talks are part of a larger trend of consolidation in the auto industry as companies look to cut costs and invest in new technologies.
Fiat Chrysler has recalled more than 57,000 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles because the fuel pumps may fail. The fuel pump recall includes 2017-2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia and 2018-2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles that can stall if the fuel pumps fail while driving. And the vehicles cannot be restarted.
A Dodge Journey investigation into backup camera failures has been closed after Fiat Chrysler issued a Dodge Journey backup camera recall. In February 2024, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a Dodge Journey backup camera investigation which involved about 226,000 SUVs.
