1. Flying Car Prototype to Take Flight in Germany In a world’s first, a German company is preparing to launch its prototype flying car, the Volocopter VC200. The vehicle will feature 18 independent rotors powered by batteries and is designed to take off vertically like a helicopter, with a range of up to 30 minutes and a top speed of 62 mph. The flight will take place in February or March of this year in Germany, although the company is also in talks with the Dubai government for a potential launch there. The Volocopter could revolutionize transport, offering the convenience of a car with the speed and range of a helicopter. 2. Toyota Announces Plans for Flying Car Toyota recently announced its plans to develop a flying car, which is expected to be ready for testing as early as 2020. The vehicle will feature a single-seat cockpit which will be powered by a hybrid electric motor and six small rotors. The company also plans to develop an accompanying control system, which would allow the user to control the vehicle remotely. The flying car will have an estimated top speed of 180 km/h and a range of up to 100 km. There is no word yet on when the vehicle will be available
