The most popular sources are news websites, social media, streaming services, and online language learning platforms. News websites such as BBC, CNN, and Le Monde often have sections dedicated to international news in different languages. Social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook have sections dedicated to foreign language news, and streaming services like YouTube and Vimeo have plenty of videos featuring foreign language news, articles, and interviews. Online language learning platforms like Duolingo, Babbel, and Rosetta Stone also have sections dedicated to foreign language news and articles. Taiwan has been actively promoting Chinese language education overseas in recent years and in 2023, the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL), Taiwan’s proficiency test for Chinese, attracted record-breaking participation of over 100,000 test takers across 47 countries.
