Gasoline is a petroleum-derived liquid that is primarily used as an engine fuel in internal combustion engines. It consists mostly of organic compounds obtained by the fractional distillation of petroleum, enhanced with a variety of additives. Gasoline is a toxic, flammable liquid which is usually handled and transported with care. In most countries, gasoline is sold by the gallon, but in some it is sold by the liter.
A GM L87 engine recall has caused a lawsuit which alleges using a thicker 6.2-liter engine oil will cause vehicle owners to purchase hundreds of extra gallons of gasoline. The General Motors class action lawsuit was not filed until after GM announced an L87 engine recall of nearly 600,000 trucks and SUVs.
