Haluk Akakçe is a Turkish-born artist who has gained international acclaim for his work in painting, sculpture, video and installation art. Born in Istanbul, Akakçe studied painting at the Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts. He has exhibited widely in the United States, Europe, and Asia and is represented in a number of prestigious collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate Modern in London, and the Istanbul Modern in Istanbul. Akakçe’s work explores the relationship between humans and the environment, often focusing on the ever-changing urban landscape. His works often combine elements of photography, painting, and sculpture, creating a unique visual experience. Akakçe’s work has been widely celebrated, and he has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant in 2011.
