Kemal Tahir (1910–1973) was a Turkish novelist, journalist, playwright and historian. He wrote more than 30 novels and numerous historical works, and was one of the most influential writers of modern Turkey. He is best known for his novel, Devlet Ana, which has been translated into many languages and adapted into a film. He was awarded the title of State Artist of Turkey.
