NASA and SpaceX Manage First US Astronaut Launch From US Soil Since 2011 On May 30th, 2020, NASA and SpaceX successfully launched two astronauts into space from US soil. This was the first time that an American spacecraft has launched astronauts into space from the United States since 2011. The mission, known as Demo-2, was launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida and marked the first time a private company has sent astronauts into space. The mission was a success and the astronauts, Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley, arrived safely at the International Space Station on the 31st of May. This mission is a major milestone for the commercial space industry and for space exploration in general.
