This event is a result of a strategic partnership formed earlier this year between the <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.sportsnet.ca/olympics/article/nhl-serie-a-announce-partnership-ahead-of-milano-cortina-olympics/">NHL, NHLPA, and top-flight Italian soccer league Serie A</a>.
