The Philadelphia 76ers are a professional basketball team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The team plays in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The 76ers play their home games at the Wells Fargo Center. The franchise was founded in 1946 as the Syracuse Nationals and joined the NBA in 1949 as the Nationals. They changed their name to the 76ers in 1963. The 76ers have had a rich history, winning three NBA championships, nine conference titles, and 24 division titles. They have featured some of the greatest players in NBA history, including Wilt Chamberlain, Julius Erving, Allen Iverson, and Charles Barkley. The team has also had some of the greatest coaches in NBA history, including Larry Brown, Billy Cunningham, and Pat Riley. The 76ers are currently owned by Comcast Spectacor, and are led by general manager Elton Brand and head coach Brett Brown.
