Like the pit stops where "energy" has replaced fuel in determining time spent in the pits as well as stint lengths, there are a few other things about the LMDh cars in GTP that could alter strategy. Like the pit stops, however, the changes will largely be invisible to the casual observer.
NASCAR continued its west coast travels with the Pala Casino 400 as Ross Chastain and Kyle Busch started stage one with a fury! Busch was a strong contender to win the first stage until he suffered a pit-stop penalty which played a role into Busch finishing 12th. Chastain cruised to a comfortable first-place finish. Chastain continued this theme in the second stage where he again finished in first place, followed by Kyle Busch and Joey Logano. However, in the final stage, Busch took it to another level and was able to win the Pala Casino 400. With the victory, Busch holds the all-time record for consecutive cup seasons with a victory at 19 and is now ninth in the all-time victories list.
Mike Hull, Scott Dixon's race strategist at Chip Ganassi Racing, opens a new video series with RACER's Marshall Pruett where he breaks down the pit stop strategy, fuel stint lengths, and where caution periods tend to emerge at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg as a primer for today's race.
McLaren fan crying party, who's hosting? We'll bring the snacks. It was a less-than-ideal start to the season for the team as Oscar Piastri failed to finish his first race in F1, and Lando Norris spent a bit too much time in the pitlane for his liking. The team were already pretty downbeat about their chances heading into the 2023 season, with Zak Brown admitting that they had missed development targets for the start of the year. But to have one of your cars DNF and the other finish last by 50 seconds? Well, it's not looking good, is it?
Kevin Harvick lamented a missed opportunity Sunday at Phoenix Raceway by missing out on a victory, but didn’t question the pit call that lost him the race lead. “It's what I would have done,” Harvick said of the No.4 Stewart-Haas Racing team taking four tires on the final pit stop.
A rash of yellows late in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring allowed many GTD and GTD PRO cars to go far farther on fuel than they would have been able to otherwise, the top cars in both classes running around an hour and 50 minutes from their last pit stop to the finish.
Sergio Perez says he was able to match Max Verstappen’s pace when his teammate emerged as a threat for victory in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Verstappen started from 15th place and was climbing through the field into the top four when a Safety Car allowed him to make a pit stop and retain pos...
Good news, folks, not all is lost after the saga that was the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix's podium shuffle. Alonso's podium was taken away and given back to him a couple of hours later, all because of Aston Martin's very successful challenge of his second penalty. Alonso briefly lost his third place in Jeddah because of a 10-second penalty given for not serving his initial five-second penalty correctly at his pitstop, with Aston Martin being seen to have started working on the car too early because the rear jack was ready to go, but hadn't actually lifted the car. But
