Rocket Raccoon is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Bill Mantlo and artist Keith Giffen, the character first appeared in Marvel Preview #7 (Summer 1976). Rocket Raccoon is an anthropomorphic raccoon with genius-level intellect who is an expert marksman and master tactician. Along with his best friend Groot, Rocket is an important member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Rocket has been featured in a variety of associated Marvel merchandise, including animated television series; toys; video games; and merchandise such as apparel, board games, and trading cards.
