Rome: Total War is a real-time strategy game developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega for Microsoft Windows, macOS and Linux. The game was released in 2004 and is the third installment in the Total War series. The game follows the historically accurate Roman Empire from the years 270 BC to 14 AD, controlling the entire Roman Empire from the Senate in Rome. Players can control one of three Roman families, the Julii, Brutii or Scipii, and must manage their armies, economy and political standing in an effort to become the most powerful faction in the game. Rome: Total War features large 3D battles and cities, with a large variety of units and siege weapons. It also features a turn-based campaign map, where the player must manage their faction's provinces, build armies and cities, and conduct diplomacy.
