After suffering their initial defeat at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, Serbia came back with a dominant performance, defeating the Dominican Republic 112-79 to secure a spot in the Quarter-Finals. Bogdan Bogdanovic led the charge for Serbia, scoring 20 points, a stark contrast to his previous struggles against Italy. This victory marked Serbia's fourth consecutive entry into the top eight at the World Cup. Additionally, Serbia extended their unbeaten record against the Dominican Republic to 2-0, with their previous win occurring during the 2020 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade. Serbia wasted no time in asserting their dominance, embarking on a 16-2 run in the first quarter, giving them a commanding 26-9 lead. They further solidified their advantage with nine consecutive points early in the second quarter, pushing the lead to 20 points. Following this, the Dominican Republic failed to mount a comeback. In 2019, the United States fell short of reaching the Semi-Finals. However, they have now made a strong comeback, securing a spot in the final four by defeating Italy convincingly with a score of 100-63 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.Coach Steve Kerr and his team are patiently awaiting the outcome of the Germany vs. Latvia matchup in their bracket. Meanwhile, Italy will continue to participate in the Classification Games 5-8. The USA's loss to Lithuania was primarily due to Lithuania's remarkable three-point shooting at the start of the game, where they successfully made their first nine three-pointers. In response, the USA shifted its focus towards preventing any successful shooting attempts and employed a full-court zone-press defense, which caused significant problems for Italy. Coach Gianmarco Pozzecco's team struggled to find their rhythm, managing to score only 24 points in the first half. This marked the second-lowest first-half score in the history of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Quarter-Finals, with Turkey's 23-point first half against Argentina in 2006 being the only lower score. In contrast, the United States scored 46 points during the same period, establishing a commanding 22-point lead that allowed them to comfortably maintain control of the game in the second half.
Dennis Schroder struggled with his shooting, but his teammates stepped up, and Germany defeated Latvia 81-79 at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. The game had many lead changes, with Germany ultimately securing the win. Coach Gordie Herbert's team advances to the Semi-Finals against the United States, while Latvia moves to Classification Games 5-8. Schroder's tough shooting night included tying a World Cup record for missed shots. Franz Wagner's return and an 8-0 run in the fourth quarter played a pivotal role for Germany. Latvia's Arturs Zagars impressed, but a game-winning three-pointer attempt by Davis Bertans fell short, sealing Germany's victory.

In the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Quarter-Finals, Canada and Slovenia engaged in an intense matchup that witnessed 18 lead changes in the first half alone. Despite this closely contested battle, Canada emerged victorious with a final score of 100-89 in front of an enthusiastic, sold-out crowd in Manila. This win propels Canada into the Semi-Finals at the Mall of Asia Arena, where they will face Serbia, while Slovenia will compete in Classification Games 5-8.The game's first half saw both teams playing at a relentless pace, opting for smaller lineups to counter the offensive threats posed by Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The halftime score was deadlocked at 50 points each, marking one of the most memorable halves in World Cup history. Coach Jordi Fernandez's halftime words seemed to inspire Canada as they shifted into a higher gear in the second half. RJ Barrett shone in the third quarter with 13 points, while Dillon Brooks nailed a pivotal three-pointer early in the second half, contributing to Canada's seven-point lead. Despite an initially chilly reception from the crowd, Brooks celebrated his shot with great enthusiasm. With five minutes left in the third quarter, Canada extended their lead to 10 points, and Slovenia struggled to mount a comeback due to Canada's exceptional second-half defense.
Bogdan Bogdanovic once again displayed his exceptional talent in the FIBA World Cup, solidifying his status as one of the tournament's all-time greats. He scored 23 points, shooting 8/12 from the field, including 3/4 from beyond the arc, and contributed with 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists. It's clear that he was the standout player of the game. Bogdanovic, as expected, made history by becoming the player with the most three-pointers (70) in the competition over the last 30 years. In terms of historical achievements, he continued to follow in the footsteps of basketball legends. The Serbian player surpassed Dirk Nowitzki's record of 425 points in FIBA World Cup games by scoring 427 points. Today marked his 11th game with 20 points or more in the World Cup, placing him third in the 21st century, behind only Luis Scola (16) and Dirk Nowitzki (12), who was present as a World Cup Global Ambassador. Additionally, Bogdanovic now stands as the sole record holder for making at least one three-pointer in 24 consecutive World Cup games he's played in.

Following a standstill in contract extension talks, Buddy Hield and the Indiana Pacers are now exploring potential trade options with other teams, according to league sources. Hield is open to being traded elsewhere, but no imminent deal is in place, and there are currently no substantive discussions with other teams. The Pacers offered Hield an extension recently, but it apparently didn't meet his expectations. Hield, in the last year of his contract at $19.2 million for the 2023-24 season, is expected to draw interest from multiple teams as NBA training camps open in the coming weeks. Over the past five seasons, he has been the league leader in three-pointers made. Acquired in a trade with the Sacramento Kings in the 2021-22 season, Hield quickly became a valuable veteran leader alongside Tyrese Haliburton, averaging 16.8 points and five rebounds with a 42.5 percent three-point shooting rate last season.
