Valérien Ismaël is a French football manager and former player who is currently the head coach of German side VfL Wolfsburg. He has previously managed Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem, and was the assistant manager of the French national team under Didier Deschamps. As a player, Ismaël was a defender who played for a variety of clubs in France, Germany, and the Netherlands. He was part of the French squad that won the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
