In August of 2022, after 14 seasons in the NHL, Kyle Turris retired as an NHL player. Turris scored 425 points in 776 games, with over half of them playing for Ottawa, where he remains one of the most well-liked players in franchise history. Turris’s NHL journey also took him to Edmonton, Nashville, and the team that drafted him third overall in 2007, the Phoenix Coyotes.

With another season beginning to slip away, the Ottawa Senators have fired head coach D.J. Smith. GM Steve Staios broke the news to Smith after practice on Monday, and replaced him with the team's recently hired coaching consultant, Jacques Martin, who also happens to be the winningest head coach in franchise history. Assistant Davis Payne was also relieved of his duties, and replaced by Hall of Famer Daniel Alfredsson, who recently joined the team in player development.

After over seven seasons as general manager, the Ottawa Senators have parted company with Pierre Dorion. Dorion has been with the Senators since 2007, first as a scout before working up to the GM role in 2017.New owner Michael Andlauer made the announcement Wednesday at the Canadian Tire Centre, assigning his president of hockey operations, Steve Staios, as the new interim GM. Staios will now begin the search for Dorion's permanent replacement. Former Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli and Tampa Director of Hockey Operations Mathieu Darche are both seen as possible candidates.
