Which Is The Best Marc Jacobs Perfect Fragrance? - Thou Shalt Not Covet...

Affiliate Links PR Sample Are you a fan of the Marc Jacobs ‘Perfect’ fragrance line? The collection now includes four best-selling scents, each a slightly different version of the original. I’ve gathered the four fragrances together today to review and compare them for you, so you can choose the perfect ‘Perfect’ scent to suit your mood. Which will you choose? Perfect Eau De Parfum (2020) – Soft, Comforting, Floral. The first Perfect fragrance is described as a celebration of self-love and being #PerfectAsIAm. I remember the fist time I tried the original Perfect fragrance, I thought it was so pretty! I was a bit concerned about the rhubarb in the top before trying the scent, but it only adds the slightest touch of tangy sharpness that actually works really well with the other notes. There’s also daffodil in the top here which gives a lovely bright floral touch to the scent, and I love the almond milk in the heart which offers a beautifully smooth, creaminess. The fragrance is then finished off with cashmeran, which leaves you with a really wonderful, warm soft and sweet dry down. Top Notes: Rhubarb & Daffodil Heart Notes: Almond Milk Base Notes: Cashmeran Perfect Intense Eau de Parfum (2021) – Rich, Golden, Bold. I’m sure you can probably guess by the name, that Perfect Intense is a richer, bolder version of the original fragrance. I was so glad when the brand launched Perfect Intense – a more intense version of the original sounded amazing to me! Perfect Intense takes out the sharpness of the rhubarb from the original and injects hit of night blooming jasmine into the fragrance, which adds a beautiful floral richness to the opening. The roasted almonds in the heart ties the scent to the original, give a warm creaminess, which is similar to the original fragrance, but feels richer, slightly earthy, nutty, and much creamier. The sandalwood, sesame oil and cashmeran in the base finishes off the fragrance perfectly, with a warm, sweet and woody dry down. Top Notes: Daffodil Absolute & Night Blooming Jasmine Heart Notes: Roasted Almonds, Pink Pepper, Pamplezest Base Notes: Sandalwood, Sesame oil, Cashmeran Perfect Eau de Toilette (2022) – Bright, Sparkling, Floral. An Eau De Toilette scent, by definition, is a lighter, often fresher, and less intense fragrance, compared to an eau de parfum, or a parfum fragrance. I think the EDT version of Perfect is probably the most similar to the original out of all of them. The opening definitely feels fresher and brighter than the original, with pink peppercorn taking centre stage, blended with a hint of greenness from the Polygonum. This scent doesn’t have the creaminess of the other three launches – there is no almond note here – instead we have white daffodil in the heart, giving this fragrance a beautiful floral lift, and it’s finished with a woody, slightly warming base of cedarwood. Overall this one is quite similar to the original Perfect, while feeling lighter and more airy. Top Notes: Pink Peppercorn and Polygonum Heart Notes: White Daffodil Base Notes: Cedarwood Perfect Elixir Eau de Parfum (2024) – Luxurious, Opulent, Extravagant. And finally the latest launch, Perfect Elixir. Similar to Perfect Intense, this fragrance is rich and opulent, but it’s quite different to Perfect Intense – and I think it’s now my favourite out of the collection. This one feels so wonderfully rich and luxurious, I can’t get enough of it! Perfect Elixir opens with a purple rhubarb accord, and though it does have a touch of sharpness similar the original, it instantly feels deeper, heavier and more rounded. The Golden Amber Woods Accord blended with orange blossom in the heart is so beautiful, adding a warming layer to the fragrance that really does feel like a golden sunset, and the amber is quite prominent throughout the longevity of the scent. In the base you’ll find vanilla bean extract, along with myrrh and earthy patchouli, finishing off the fragrance with a beautifully warm and sweet dry down. Top Notes: Purple Rhubarb Accord, Plum Accord, Liquid Honey Nectar Accord Heart Notes: Golden Amber Woods Accord, Orange Blossom Absolute Accord Base Notes: Vanilla Bean Extract, Myrrh Resinoid, Patchouli Heart Have you tried the Marc Jacobs Perfect line yet? Let me know your favourite! Marc Jacobs fragrances are available now at Boots, The Perfume Shop, Lookfantastic, and Sephora. Comments comments

Seven Fantastic Fragrances You Need To Try! - Thou Shalt Not Covet...

Affiliate Links PR Sample Hello friends! If you’re on the hunt for a new fragrance, I’ve gathered together a few new scent offerings today that would be perfect additions to your fragrance wardrobe. I’ve included a few designer options as well as a couple of wild cards too – enjoy! Chloe Nomade Lumière D’Égypte I’m a big fan of Chloe fragrances, and their latest launch is easily one of the best flankers in the brand’s ‘Nomade’ fragrance line. Nomade Lumière d’Égypte is a luminous, floral aquatic scent inspired by the cool waters of the river Nile, and magical Egyptian light. Created by perfumer Cécile Matton, Lumière d’Égypte features notes of kyphi and blue lotus to form a soft, airy fragrance that’s oh-so pretty. Lumière d’Égypte opens with beautifully soft and airy blue lotus accord, leading to a heart of sweet and creamy jasmine. The base features spicy pink berry, elemi essential oil, and earthy kyphi, for a rich and decadent trail. This is a fragrance that’s sweet, feminine and just really pretty – the perfect every day perfume! Top Notes: Blue Lotus Accord Heart Notes: Jasmine Grandiflorum Absolute Base Notes: Kyphi Accord, Pink Berry & Elemi Essential Oil Valentino Donna Borm in Roma Extradose Another designer line I can’t get enough of is Valentino’s Donna Born in Roma collection. One of the latest additions to this popular scent line is Valentino Donna Born in Roma Extradose. This launch offers a Donna Born in Roma fragrance with Valentino’s highest perfume concentration, resulting in a more intense scent experience for the wearer. Inspired by the intensity of a night in the city, Donna Born in Roma Extradose is a floral-ambery fragrance opening with cassis accord (blackcurrant), leading to a heart of concentrated rhum – the scent feels so boozy and indulgent, also beautifully creamy and warm. The base also really does give an extradose of vanilla; intense, rich and addictive – just gorgeous! Top Notes: Cassis Accord Heart Notes: Rhum Accord Base Notes: Vanilla Extract Burberry Her Eau de Parfum Intense Fans of the original Burberry Her fragrance (and its flankers) will no doubt be excited for an Intense version of this bestselling scent. Burberry Her Eau de Parfum Intense is described as a vibrant, gourmand fragrance. Opening with wonderfully sweet notes of wild strawberry and orange blossom, the scent is instantly fruity and bright, and has a true candy sweetness to it. The fragrance is intense and bold, youthful and daring. The base includes amber wood which leaves you with a really pretty, sweet, warm and woody dry down. This fragrance is really up there in terms of sweetness – I think this is a super fun and uplifting perfume! Top Notes: Wild Strawberry Heart Notes: Orange Blossom Base Notes: Ambery Wood Gucci Bloom Parfum The latest Gucci Bloom fragrance also follows the popular ‘intense’ trend in fragrances that we’re seeing a lot of now. Gucci Bloom Parfum is an amber floral scent, with the highest perfume concentration of Gucci’s Bloom line. Described as a modern re-imagination of the signature white bloom Accord, Gucci Bloom Parfum opens with notes of apricot, cardamom, and jasmine, I really found this scent quite intriguing on first spray. I don’t really pick up on the apricot, and it feels more cardamom heavy initially – I really haven’t smelled anything like this before! The heart includes notes of tuberose, jasmine sambac and rangoon creeper. If like me you’ve never heard of rangoon creeper, this has a sweet, fruity, floral aroma. The heart of the fragrance almost turns a bit savoury on me, it really is very interesting. In the base, the scent includes vanilla, moss and Peru balsam. The dry down feels rich, creamy and woody, and the scent definitely sweetens up the longer you wear it. This really is a must try for fans of Gucci fragrances! Top Notes: Apricot, Cardamom Guatemala Essence, Coral Jasmine. Heart Notes: Tuberose, Jasmine Sambac India Absolute, Rangoon Creeper. Base Notes: Vanilla, Sweet Moss Accord, Peru Balsam Absolute. Miller Harris Melody I also had to include one of Miller Harris’ latest offerings. Melody is a romantic floral musky scent, that feels sweet, intimate and delicate. Opening with notes of blackcurrant, bergamot, stem accord and basil, the fragrance is instantly luminous, lightly musky, just a touch green, very feminine and oh-so pretty. It makes me think of a young girl in a flowy white dress, dancing in a field of flowers in the morning sun. The heart of the scent includes rose, lavender and Ceylon tea, the rose definitely dominates over the lavender, giving the fragrance a beautiful layer of florals in the heart, adding to the feeling of light and luminosity. And in the base, you’ll find white musk, vanilla, cedar wood and cashmere. White musk is the stand out note throughout the scent and into the dry down, combined with warming cashmere, you’re left with a beautifully soft and enticing scent trail. This fragrance is perfect for lovers of luminous, feminine scents, that enjoy florals and musky notes. Top Notes: Blackcurrant, Bergamot EO, Stem Accord, Basil EO Heart Notes: Rose Damascena Absolute, Lavender Accord, Ceylon Tea Base Notes: White Musks, Vanilla, Cedarwood EO Upcycled, Cashmere Electimuss Astrum Nova I’m a big fan of Electimuss fragrances and couldn’t wait to try their latest release, Astrum Nova. This is described as a luminous, effervescent scent inspired by the brightest stars in the night sky. Opening with notes of mango, ambrette seed, bergamot, lemon and mandarin, the fragrance is instantly vibrant and juicy with the beautiful cirtrus notes taking centre stage. I can pick out the mango too, adding a smooth, sweet element, and the ambrette seed works so well here helping to combine the top notes for a really enticing, warm and sweet, fruity opening. The heart includes blackcurrant, orris and osmanthus, and after about ten minutes I really can pick out the blackcurrant especially – I love a well done blackcurrant note so this is a big plus to […]

Affiliate Links PR Sample Even though the summer is technically over, I still can’t get enough of the beautiful Vacay in a Bottle collection from Kayali! This four piece collection really does tick all the boxes for me – luminous, creamy, fresh, warm and inviting, there really is something for everyone. Playful yet luxurious, let your senses roam free and your wanderlust go wild as you discover fragrant destinations as imagined by KAYALI. Wear it alone or layer it with other fragrances to discover your own signature scent combination.’ – Kayali. Let’s start with Capri in a Bottle Lemon Sugar 14 – this is a fresh citrus fragrance with key notes of lemon, sugar and vanilla. Inspired by the Italian island of Capri, Lemon Sugar 14 opens with bright notes of juicy lemon blended with warm vanilla and sweet sugar. The opening is just so pretty – sweet, lemony, beautifully creamy, with a gorgeous gourmand feel. This is just like the most heavenly lemon dessert on a hot summers’ day. The heart of the scent features notes of lemon blossom, freesia and raspberry, and as time goes on the freesia and raspberry give the fragrance a lovely sweet fruity lift in the heart. The base includes gorgeously gourmand praline and benzoin, leaving you with a warming, still beautiful creamy and sweet dry down. This is absolutely one for the gourmand lovers out there! Top Notes: Lemon, Vanilla & Sugar Heart Notes: Lemon Blossom, Freesia & Raspberry Base Notes: Praline & Benzoin Next we have Maldives in a Bottle Ylang Coco 20 – this is a fresh solar fragrance with key notes of rosemary, ylang-ylang and coconut milk. Opening with Banana Blossom and Ylang Ylang, this fragrance is honestly so beautiful – it might just be my favourite of the collection! It manages to balance sweet, creamy and fresh just perfectly. This one makes me think of the most stunning tropical holiday, it’s not ‘beachy’ as such, but it has a lovely creaminess running through the scent (mostly from the coconut milk) that makes me think of holidays and sun kissed skin. The banana blossom and ylang ylang are done really nicely, sweet and rich, without overtaking the other notes, while rosemary and white plumeria make up the heart. I really don’t notice any rosemary here, mostly just a really lovely creamy floral aroma. In the base, you’ll find notes of sandalwood, coconut milk and starfruit. The dry down is also really gorgeous, still sweet and creamy, the sandalwood adds a lovely warming, woody touch too. Just gorgeous! Top Notes: Banana Blossom & Ylang Ylang Heart Notes: Rosemary & White Plumeria Base Notes: Sandalwood, Coconut Milk & Starfruit Next up is Marrakesh in a Bottle Orange Blossom 24 – this is a fresh floral scent with key notes of orange blossom, Turkish rose and cedarwood. Perfect for the floral and citrus lovers out there, Marrakesh in a Bottle Orange Blossom 24 opens with floral notes of jasmine and neroli. Instantly the orange blossom and neroli is at the forefront of the scent, sweet and almost sharp, the opening is really quite striking. The heart of the fragrance includes Turkish rose and cedarwood, the Turkish rose working so well the the jasmine and neroli, offering a wonderfully intense floral bouquet. However, I don’t notice the cedarwood myelf. When you get to the base of the scent, amber and musk blend together to finish the fragrance off with a beautifully warm and inviting dry down. Top Notes: Jasmine & Neroli Heart Notes: Turkish Rose & Cedarwood Base Notes: Amber & Musk And lastly, Maui in a Bottle Sweet Banana | 37 – this is a fresh solar perfume with key notes of sweet banana, coconut cream and jasmine. I really thought this would remind me of Maldives in a Bottle Ylang Coco 20 with the banana and coconut notes, but it’s actually a very different scent. This one is still sweet and creamy, but the banana is greener here, and it’s definitely more floral. The opening of banana and coconut cream is really lovely, the green banana is really quite life-like, which you don’t see often in perfume. It’s done very well though, the scent is still pretty and sweet, and very wearable. The heart includes floral notes of gardenia and jasmine, which follow on well from the top notes, and don’t overtake the scent at all. In the base, there’s rum and sandalwood, providing a really beautiful rich, warm and woody trail. Top Notes: Banana & Coconut Cream Heart Notes: Gardenia & Jasmine Base Notes: Rum & Sandalwood Kayali fragrances are available at Sephora, Cult Beauty, Boots and ASOS. Comments comments
