Focus is a British psychological thriller film starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie. The film follows a veteran con artist (Smith) who takes a younger woman (Robbie) under his wing and teaches her the tricks of the trade. The two find themselves in a dangerous game of cat and mouse as they attempt to outwit a veteran FBI agent (Gerald McRaney). The film was released in 2015 and received generally positive reviews from critics. It grossed $88 million worldwide and received a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Academy Awards. In the film, Will Smith plays Nicky Spurgeon, a master con artist who has been honing his craft since he was a child. He meets a young woman named Jess Barrett (Margot Robbie) at a bar and takes her under his wing, teaching her the tricks of the trade. Together, they embark on a series of elaborate cons, but their game of cat and mouse comes to a sudden halt when they cross paths with an experienced FBI agent (Gerald McRaney).
