Hugging Morocco's breezy Atlantic coast, the coastal town of Essaouira is a wonderfully laidback alternative to Marrakech. On our summer holiday here, we stayed for 12 days. But we could have easily stayed longer. What we loved about Essaouira is that you can do as little or as much as you want. If you're looking for sun, sea and relaxation with a dash of great cuisine and welcoming people, then you're in for a treat. I love travelling but there is one thing that I will always miss when I go away. I can do without a cup of tea or even a decent bacon sandwich (although they are always nice to have when home). It's my bed that I cannot wait to sink into. There's nothing quite like being in your own bed, is there? It certainly makes it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep. I have always been a light sleeper, and annoyingly, I can wake up to any noise and often find myself wide awake at all hours of the morning.
